Family event in Peterborough
Leah_of_Dawnon 20/11/2017 03:42We stayed at the Holiday Inn for 2 nights. We went to Peterborough for a surprise family birthday party. We booked a group of rooms for Saturday night. We decided to come up early on Friday, because of bad weather on Saturday. We were able to get a room a day early, which was great. The room that we had was very recently renovated and was very nice. It had hardwood floors, which are great, because they are so much cleaner that a carpeted room. The bed was very, very comfortable. And all of the linens are fresh and new. The patio doors open onto a small deck. It was winter, so we didn't sit outside, but it was nice for fresh air. There was a fridge, extra blankets and the bathroom was new and clean.
The front desk let us know at check in, that there was a hockey tournament in town, and so there were a lot of kids. They said to let them know if there was too much noise. They had provided a room for them to hang out in, but there was a lot of activity. There were a lot of kids, and quite a bit of running up and down the hallways. Many children were allowed to play in the hallways in groups, so this was at times a bit noisy. We could have complained, but we just made it work. I would stay here again, we enjoyed it!

TimnMarthaon 09/11/2017 23:03We recently stayed at this hotel. I had reviews that said it was under renovation, so OK, we will see what happens. The construction trailers were blocking so much of the parking area that we had to wedge our van into a corner of the lot. Lots of other folks parked... elsewhere I suppose. Ours was a 'renovated' room. The carpeting was gone, less germs and DNA to walk on, I get that. The room, however, had a big sliding door to a balcony (huge plus for us)(with a wonderful view of the lake in town), so the floor reflected light from the floor. As you know, hard surfaces that are dark show every little bit of dirt. When we dropped a bottle of wine out of the fridge it broke on the floor. When we came back to the room after being out we could exactly where the housekeeper had had mopped and exactly where she hadn't. This was not her fault as she had no time to wash the floor as the drain in the shower was sooo plugged that by the time we stepped out, there was three inches of water standing in the tub. Cleaning that up would have taken every bit of the housekeepers time. I think the staff at this hotel do their very best, but upper management is asleep at the wheel. Other than that, it was everything you would expect from a big chain hotel

There is also a restarant on site.. i had breakfast there twice... i pefered the menu over the buffet.. the food was made fresh.. The pool and gym area were great.. the pool is heated and indoor/outdoor.
Perfect hotel for a weekend getaway.

James957on 31/10/2017 22:14Back again under the renovations and liked it. The lobby looks like the Marriott Court yard. Check in staff still great. Rooms have laminated wood floors not the carpet warm feeling but nice, along with new beds and furniture. Will return again as we like the waterfront location. Restaurant still not up to my liking but keep going due to convenience. This property can be over loaded on weekends with the noise of sports teams. So chose wisely when staying.

Pat Don 31/10/2017 14:51Booked on-line and got a great no cancellation room price. We booked a king suite facing the river. These rooms are in the business wing of the hotel - very quiet even on Saturday night. While the exterior is not too impressive, the rooms are completely and nicely renovated and very clean. There is free wifi and a Keurig coffee machine in the room. The hotel is located in the old part of the city and close to several cafés, pubs and great eateries (we ate at Rare Grillhouse - yummy). We highly recommend this hotel for couples and families.
