What People are saying

Disappointed

Mark-Debra R on 21/11/2017 04:45

We stayed in an executive room with views over the Hoe and water. We had a king size bed which was very comfortable.

As my wife and I were recovering from a cold we decided to order room service. I ordered a super salad with chicken. Unfortunately the chicken breast very dry on the outside and not much better overall. We did this to the attention of reception and discounted our bill with little concern about the quality of the meal.

If you want to make a cup of tea or coffee in your room there is no light in or near the alcove where they have this set up to do it safely. We had to use the flashlight function our phone to ensure we didn't pour boiling water over us when we filled our cups.

We had trouble changing he channels on the TV. I finally figured out you need to open the wardrobe door and aim the remote at the box in the wardrobe and then you could change channels. Very inconvenient but even more nonsensical.

I know this hotel was just upgraded to a Crown Plaza from a Holiday Inn. In my opinion this is not a true Crown Plaza and sadly fell well short of what we are used to in a Crown Plaza.

A Nice Stay in a Nice Hotel

This hotel is ideally situated just off the Hoe and the views over the Plymouth Bay area are excellent. Rooms are Crowne Plaza standard and the bar is open and welcoming. Breakfast up in the penthouse is great with again great views over the bay. We will certainly stay here again when in the area.

Lovely stay

We stayed for one night, Sat 18th Nov for a family party held elsewhere. The hotel was very, very busy. We had no problems with noise, everything about the room was fantastic, the size of the bed!, the lighting, , bath robes, hairdryer, iron & board, brilliant shower and shower gels etc. Tea, coffee, biscuits, still & sparkling water. Unfortunately we couldn't park in hotel parks but we did outside, cost a fair bit not the hotels problem. One little thing no extractor fan in bathroom, if there was it didn't work, didn't bother us. Room 710

An otherwise great visit - spoilt by shoddy treatment at check in.

Family stayed at hotel for one night as part of weekend family get together. My son & his partner had taken up an offer via IHG website to upgrade their room to “lounge access”. However upon check in they were told that what they had paid couldn’t be right as it was way below their upgrade rate. The Receptionist then went off for 15 minutes to discuss it with one of her colleagues. Eventually they begrudgingly accepted the basis of the booking.
If the hotel had any query with the “offer terms” they should have taken it up with IHG & not subject their guests to this unsavoury experience.
It is a shame as in all other respects the party would have had a perfect stay.
I am a Platinum Elite member & in all my years of staying at IHG branded hotels have I seen such shoddy treatment exhibited.

ideal hotel

An excellent place to stay, so close to everything Plymouth has to offer. Lovely spacious rooms, clean, and a good views, all the staff are very pleasant , helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good all you could want and more. The food in the Marco restaurant was very good at the top of the hotel overlooking all of Plymouth.
We stayed to see the Poppies and couldn't believe how close we were to them from the hotel.
I think they have done a lot of refurbishment and they have done well just need the bathroom to be updated it was fine but having a small bath with shower over wouldn't have done me a year ago as i had a hip replacement and no way would i have got in and out of the space allowed. But this is a very minor detail. they even put a bottle of wine in our room as it was my birthday.
