It's two minutes from the 5 freeway, it's right over th Ctr of town, restaurants and shops, and it's about 15 minutes or so walk to h pier and beach. They have a free parking hich is very convenient , even though ,one can find parking all aos d the place. Jacob was nice at the reception and they had a free coffee and fresh cold water dispenser right in the lobby as you walk in. I liked their outside inside seating areas where one can take a nice break and a drink.its just three levels, the room was not anything to prag about ,but yet comfortable with a nice bed and a balcony over looking the front of the hotel and a view of the ocean where can see the sunset. An extra bonus we had, is the breakfast included in our rates, which was good enough, with coffee and juice. The other staff were also pleasant to me and my lover girl . Over all, it's a nice place and we had a good experience . We went to th pool, but it was obscured from th hotel guests, and we had to walk outside the hotel to get to it.

I’ve stayed here for years when it was the Holiday Inn - they’ve updated it and its even better than ever!! Location is perfect - restaurants, shopping, juice bars, etc. all within a very short walk!!!

Should you decide to stay here, and you don't want to be TORTURED all night by the ever constant I-5 freeway acoustics you may want to book your reservation directly with the hotel BY PHONE and specify you want an ocean facing room. Well worth the difference.
We booked on the hotels site and for our reward were issued a third top floor room that backs up to the interstate which was also next to the obnoxious stairwell door exit which evidently is widely used as an alternative to the lone-slow as molasses elevator.

Our adult children live in San Clemente so we visit a few times a year. We have always stayed elsewhere but having read that the Volare was recently remodeled we decided to give it a try. The place seems brand new. We had a third floor room with a balcony and an ocean view. Even though it is adjacent to I-5, the ocean side is very quiet.The room an the bed was comfortable. The pool area was underwhelming and the continental breakfast was a bit disappointing .But the price was right and the location is wonderful. We have already booked our next stay.

This hotel's rebrand poses as "where luxury meets nature" but we laughed that it was more like where "holiday inn meets the highway."
To be fair, the staff was nice and the pool relaxing (while awkward to access it through the garage and look out onto an exit ramp to I-5). I enjoyed the keurig coffee maker and the mini fridge/ microwave.
We had a suite, the bed was comfy and it was clean -- but it which not laid out well and looked out onto heat pumps and a ditch by the highway. There was a pipe that dripped 24/7 into the tub. The exercise room was hot -- not well ventilated or air conditioned -- one elliptical would not turn on the other made a loud "clunk" on each rotation. The breakfast was not good, unless you wanted a bagel and cold cereal.
We made the reservation when it was a holiday inn and then it switched ownership so when we checked in, they had all the rates wrong and it was just a bit frustrating to sort out after a long trip.
The hotel is walking distance to shops and restaurants, however, there is nothing on site.
Overall, a mixed experience, but probably would go somewhere else next time.
