This is a great option if you do not want to be in the heart of downtown Venice. The area around the hotel has good restaurants and a very nice mall. The hotel breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful with bus information, bus tickets, etc. We were disappointed that they had turned off the air conditioning (it was their fall - but still 25+ each day) so you had to open the windows and deal with mosquitoes. Also the doors all seemed to close with a "bang" and that was disruptive when other guests on your floor were moving around late at night or early in the morning

My wife and I decided to explore Mestre before travelling on to Venice to meet friends. We stayed in the Holiday Inn for just one night but I have to say the service was exceptional.
We had a lovely clean quiet room on the third floor overlooking the gardens at the rear of the hotel. All the usual facilities were provided and when the safe wouldn't accept our pin we called reception who promptly sent an engineer to sort it out.
After a decent walk and picking up a lovely pizza in a nearby restaurant we headed to the bar. A lovely Romanian girl called Lavinia served us and chatted and served all the other customers for most of the evening. We had a snack and some wonderful wine and chatted to her and other customers (from South Africa). She spoke excellent English and was polite, efficient and friendly. A true asset to the hotel.
I'd happily recommend the Holiday Inn.

Holiday Inn always is the hallmark of comfort & luxury. Though it is slightly far from the Venice main area, the hotel plies a shuttle everyday directly to the canal area of Venice
Don't expect any traditional Venice views from here.
Some of the staff here was a little snooty at the reception.

Lovely hotel but a bit out the way.20 min bus ride to centre & a very busy bus but cheap or shuttle bus from hotel, but limited on times.no pool but good clean rooms with all usual facilities.free parking in streets behind hotel so no need to pay for hotel parking.

This is a good option if you want to avoid the hassles and prices of staying in Venezia itself. A 10-minute walk from the hotel brings you to a bus stop, then take a city bus to downtown for about 1.50 Euro. Doesn't take long to get there. From the airport, you may take an inexpensive bus to the train station, then a taxi the short distance to the hotel. Nothing fancy about the neighbourhood or the accommodations, just average to good rooms at a competitive price. The room was clean and the cleaning lady was very kind. You can find inexpensive neighbourhood restaurants in the area for supper.
