We held a big party, the food was excellent and there was a lot of it, enough for seconds if you so wished. We had a huge room for the party and the sole use of half the bar area which is spacious in itself! The staff were extremely professional and friendly. Emily, the party coordinator, was fantastic and helped us with all the arrangements. Most of our guests stayed, overall we probably took over about 40 of their rooms. Each one said - lovely venue, spacious comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast and efficient and friendly service from all the staff.
We have had lunch here on other occasions and friends have had Sunday lunch - the food is excellent. Just outside the driveway is a bus stop from which you can get a bus to historic Winchester or the opposite direction to pretty market town New Alresford. We cannot praise the hotel highly enough and certainly recommend it to all.

The hotel is as you would expect for a Holiday Inn - a friendly, professional service in a corporate way. No real, personal interaction with the reception staff, who are obviously more used to dealing with business travellers. The room was clean and comfortable.
Very easy to get to by road and 10 minutes drive to the city centre with plenty of free parking.
The restaurant offered a very nice menu and is described on the website as a 'two AA Rosette award-winning Morn Hill Brasserie'. The food was very good although I would have preferred a greater choice of vegetarian options. We were disappointed in that we were enjoying a relaxed, quiet evening in the restaurant until a large group of other guests came in for a much more casual, livelier evening, which changed the ambiance completely from a room of quietly spoken couples to a louder, fun atmosphere.
I realise that sounds slightly 'snooty' however we were surprised that the large party had all pre-ordered from the bar menu, although they were eating in the restaurant. It felt as though the hotel did not want to refuse any requests from guests although it had obviously set itself up to present a particular class of restaurant, with service so specific (and at times fussy) that our waitress apologised for some of the things she had to do such as place our napkins and cultery in a specific place on the table, even though that did not suit us. I would have expected to eat in the more relaxed bar area if eating from the bar menu.
We would be happy to use the hotel again but would not waste money on the restaurant,

We booked this hotel as it was away from the main buzz of Southampton and a 20-30min drive to the Port. We had a lovely accessible room which had a fantastic wetroom which was ideal for me as I'm in a wheelchair and their was also plenty of room for getting about in the chair. The staff were lovely from the minute we arrived, next on the agenda was an evening meal which was lovely we were served by a young waitress whose mum came from Scotland(we forgave her not believing there was a drink called a Rusty Nail) My only critics would be breakfast, it was painfully slow and not up to our usual MacDonald Hotel chain standard but then maybe it was just an off day but certainly wouldn't put me off returning

My company held a gala dinner here after a big sales conference we held in October. We provided our menu choices weeks in advance. Myself and my colleague (who was arranging the dinner) both contacted the Holiday Inn to ask for vegan options as I am vegan.
They sent back a list of suitable options and I made my choices and returned them. We were reassured that they would cater for me.
On the night they just got it completely wrong. The starter was fine (it was just melon, hard to get wrong). For the main course came out with grated cheese all over it so I had to send it back. Then they came and told me that the vegan dessert they had offered me had egg in it so I couldn't have it (no apology was offered). I asked them if they did have the dairy free icecream that I had also ordered and they said yes. I said I would have that on its own then. Then it turned out they didn't have that either. Again, nobody even apologised - I felt like I was being a nuisance. It was really stressful for me and such a disappointment. People on my table were embarrassed for me - not a nice feeling on what is supposed to be a relaxing, celebratory evening after a very long day.
The fact that they couldn't get simple things right when we had ordered weeks made me really anxious about eating anything there at all. The kitchen clearly did not have an awareness of what 'vegan' meant.
Such a shame as the place was lovely but I won't be using this particular Holiday Inn again, I just wouldn't have any confidence in them.
