NEVER GO HERE

This is by far the worst hotel I have ever been to. It took 35 minutes to check in and there was no one else there, they were rude as hell, the room is disgusting the microwave smells like somebody threw up in it has a crust on it from at least 2 years ago lights in the bathroom don't work the pillows are miniscule when we tried to call down for more pillows the phone doesn't work had to walk for buildings over to go to the office ask for pillows we were told they don't have any pillows. There are 200 empty rooms here and they would not absolutely not give us another pillow. We called two days in advance and the day we were coming here asking if the hot tub worked and was hot we were told it was 101 degrees that was one of the main reasons we came here was for the hot tub we get here it's freezing cold we ask them what the hell is going on they said they only Turn It On By Request but that it would take a day to warm up are you kidding me?? There are roaches everywhere and there are also prostitutes in the parking lot screaming at each other all night with some guy chasing him around when we had to walk for buildings over to report it to the front desk they said oh well that's not our problem because we're only doing a favor and taking care of that hotel I said this is your hotel is it will yeah and I said what the hell are you going to do about it? Well it's not our hotel I said will I paid you money to be in that room where the prostitutes are screaming in front of who's hotel is it then?? I can't believe this never come here oh and the coffee tastes like somebody threw up in it and there's some kind of weird bug crawling around in the cereal boxes at the breakfast nook. I'm calling booking.com and I'm getting my money back. Also they don't tell you they want $100 deposit until you get here for what to preserve their crack hotel are you serious???
I was in San Antonio for a convention

I found a listing for this hotel on a booking site for a reasonable price. When I arrived, I was appalled by the exterior condition of the property. They did not have a proper front desk. I was directed by a sign to another hotel on the same property that was handling bookings for the one I had found.
My room was on the very back dead end of the property. I did not feel safe as I exited my car. The room smelled bad as I entered. The cabinets on the kitchette were falling apart. The bathroom was very grimey. The phone in the room did not work. The beds were very worn out. There were too few lights in the room. I was shown online a 3 star rating. The desk clerk told me it did even deserve 1/2 of a star rating.
Wifi was offered free. Front desk said it didn't work in most of the buildings.
The Worst

I think long and hard before writing a negative review, just saying. After a long, tiring drive I stayed one night at HomeGate out of necessity. There were few saving graces about this hotel: dirty, worn and broken down, stained sink and tub, electrical outlets missing covers, curtains had to be pinned closed. Not just leaving a negative review but also wrote to HomeGate it was so bad. In spite of this being only one room, why in the world was it rented in the first place.
A Nightmare!

As a "seasoned" traveler, I made a mistake. I booked this hotel for just a quick 12 hour stay in San Antonio. I ALWAYS check the reviews of guests before booking/paying for ANY accommodations. I was rushing, and I forgot to do so, FIRST - non-refundable. Lesson learned, the "reviews" are terrible. I tried to "rationalize" saying to myself, "oh it is just for a night, how bad can it be?" All reviews are right on. The absolute worse place I have ever stayed! Missing light bulbs, cigarette burns on the spreads, a kitchenette without dishes, silverware, glasses, piles of carpet on the lawn, sketchy characters hanging out etc. etc. HomeGate is "vacated" with a few people living there, you'll actually stay next door at that hotel! This is the only hotel I have stayed out that I really felt "unsafe" - kept a light on!
The only positive was the location, and I did not find any bugs! I seriously thought about sleeping in my car at the airport, instead of staying here! The ad pictures are "very" old, this property needs to be demolished, not refurbished! They also withdraw a deposit "equal" to your rate, without telling you. When calling about this, I was told, "didn't you see the sign?"
Went from hello to hell no in 1.2 seconds

Migrating from one state to another can be expensive and mentally exhausting. We reached homegate just after the sun had set. The location was hard to find and you could miss it if you are not paying attention. We tried to check in at the designated check-in office only to have a sign telling us to check in at the adjacent hotel. The area around the hotel looks like a potential crime scene. Inside the hotels are not properly cleaned and maintained. I found an open condom wrapper and cigarette butts on the floor of our room. The air conditioner was moldy and the door had no sealing so we had to fight mosquitos while we were there. On the plus side, it's cheap to stay, down side is you get what you pay for. You have been warned....
