What People are saying
Modern hotel

My husband and I stayed here for just one night last Saturday.
We found all the staff to be very friendly and efficient. The room was lovely though there were a few little niggley things wrong which I mentioned to reception when leaving. The one thing I did find strange was laminate flooring in the rooms. Did the person who designed the hotel ever stay in a room where people walk overhead? It's annoying.
On saying that we would stay again if we could have a room on the top floor.
Anniversary delight

We stayed at the Hope Street Hotel last weekend overnight 2-3/6/17 to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
A couple of our friends stayed over too to make the most of the occasion.
If I can start with the staff who were magnificent throughout our stay. We were greeted with a warm smile and attentive service from the staff on Reception and the bar and breakfast staff.
The Hotel itself is such a lovely alternative from the mainstream large chain Hotels' and they pride themselves on getting every detail spot on.
The whole experience was a sheer delight for us all and I would be grateful if you could pass on our sentiments to your lovely staff.
Penthouse Stay

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for one night when they had a bed and breakfast offer. On arrival the penthouse suite was beautiful, with stunning views of Liverpool from both the front and back balconies, along with having a view of the Anglican Cathedral whilst sitting in the bath. The complimentary REN products were greatly appreciated along with the bath robes. The bed was huge and was very comfy for a peaceful nights sleep.
However, I don't believe this should be a 4 star hotel, it isn't up to standard.
We had to wait around 20 minutes on arrival to check in due the computer systems failing, but this wasn't a problem.
The television in the bedroom didn't work, and the remote for the television in the living room was faulty and the buttons needed pressing a few times for it to work.
The bedroom balcony door wouldn't open. Because of these faults we phoned down to reception, who after half an hour sent the maintenance man up. He thankfully re-tuned the television in the bedroom, but said we had to lean and put our weight on the balcony door to unlock it because the lock inside the door was loose. We shouldn't of been expected to do that as paying guests.
The balconies from all the penthouses are also shared, as there are no barricades to separate them. This allowed you to see into other bedrooms if stood at the end of the balcony, which I didn't like the thought of very much.
Also, we wanted to take advantage of having a kitchen by cooking a meal, as being locals we have tried many restaurants in the city so fancied something different. However, the kitchen included many pots and pans for cooking, but no plates or bowls for your food, along with having knives and spoons but no forks. I went and bought two plastic plates and left them in the cupboard when we checked out for the next guest to use.
We moved the little armchair that was positioned under the TV to next to the couch so my boyfriend could see the TV, but we discovered the floor was covered in dirt, which appeared to have just been brushed underneath and not scooped up like you usually would do when brushing the floor. The leather couch was full of scratches and a few rips so looked very dated.
The wifi was virtually non-existent, although you could get signal in the bathroom of all places. This didn't bother us too much due to it being complimentary, but would be no good for a business person staying in that room.
We got breakfast included in the room deal, which was a continental buffet of pastries, cereal, meats and cheeses, along with picking from the menu selection which included traditional breakfasts and bacon sandwiches. This was nice, although realistically we wouldn't of been happy to pay £18.50 each for a bacon sandwich and a croissant.
Overall the hotel is great for a romantic stay especially with the beautiful views, but does come across as a posh Premier Inn when you look at the finer details and faults.
We would stay again but there is no way we would pay full price for a nights stay at this hotel.
a long view

beautiful, stylish hotel, quiet but centrally located with a stunning view of the liverpool skyline. staff is nice and competent, breakfast very good with interesting options 'a la carte'. i really liked the design and the mix of stone and wood for the interior design. a small minus was the dust accumulated on the modern tv set and some corners in the bathroom the cleaning woman apparently had missed, but overall a great hotel to spend a holiday weekend in liverpool!
It Was 50 Years Ago Today

It was 50 years ago on 1st June that Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band was released, so when I discovered that the Bootleg Beatles were performing the complete album as part of the celebrations, it was too good a chance to miss.
The gig was at the Philharmonic, and on checking Google Street View, I saw that the Hope Street Hotel was almost opposite, and booked one night for my wife and I.
Sometimes when we stay in a hotel, there are little niggles, or even serious shortcomings, but our stay here was completely without drama, and we were looked after extremely well by all the staff we encountered.
Our room was fresh, airy and modern, with high quality furnishings and fittings and a very comfortable bed. Everything worked the way it was meant to, and we experienced no noise or indeed anything negative to spoil our nights sleep.
As we had arrived early, we managed to obtain a space in the covered car park behind the hotel. There are just 10 spaces, and we were fortunate to land the only space left. The entrance is very narrow, I suspect wider cars could have difficulty entering the garage, and manoeuvring inside could be a problem. However it meant we could forget about our vehicle for the duration of our visit.
Unfortunately, I completely misunderstood the terms of our stay and the £27 added to our bill for 2 breakfasts was an unaccounted for addition. However as mentioned, it was entirely my fault, although we would have eaten elsewhere had we known. Please also note that the £10 parking fee does not include VAT.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hope St Hotel, particularly the friendliness of the staff in the dining room. It's obviously more expensive than a Travelodge or Premier Inn, but the difference in quality and ambience was very obvious.
