Alicante is a cracking city break destination and I really enjoyed my time there. The Hospes Amigos is centrally located just off the marina which is a two minute walk. On arrival complimentary cappuccinos were available. Even though we were very early for check in a room was made available for us. The rooms were pleasant although it took some getting used to in terms of design which is modern with an open plan bathroom as you enter the room. Room had no view at all with frosted glass but staff made us aware when we accepted the room which was available. Chocolate on a arrival and each evening when returning when room was serviced was a nice touch. The roof top bar wasn’t open when we stayed on the weekend as it doesn’t open in the winter. Staff friendly and very helpful. Great hotel and if I return to Alicante I’ll definitely return to the amigos.

Firstly folks and importantly let me say that I always write a truthful account /review on trip advisor ( unlike some people) and don't reduce star ratings for example because the maid shaped our towel into a monkey and I wanted a Swan and yes I actually read that on a review!! . Our holiday time and money is far too valuable for that.
So we have just arrived home from a Friday to Monday stay in lovely Alicante. A very easy transfer from the airport using the C6 bus which is just outside the airport building. Our travel company offered us a "shared" transfer at 70 euro with a transfer time approx 40 minutes. We caught the C 6 bus which runs every 20 minutes and it cost 3.80 Euro and the transfer time was 18 minutes.. You do the math and you will almost have saved enough to pay for a meal and some drinks.
We got off at the port stop and the Hospes Amerigo is only a short walk and one street back from the front and the Esplanade de Espana and the beach so it's a wonderful hotel location.
So we went into the hotel reception, which is beautiful, and we were warmly welcomed by a gentleman at the reception called Christian who along with his front of house colleagues were extremely smartly turned out and really efficient.. We even got a welcome drink!..
So we have a room keys and headed to the lift and spoke to a couple who complained that they thought the lifts were slow.. I pressed the lift button and one arrived in 6 seconds.. As far as I am aware the Hospes Amerigo have no plans to install the technology that does this faster and is currently in use on the Star Trek Enterprise.. Beam me up Scotty!!.
We were in room 225 and when we entered the room we were delighted. As you enter the room on the right is to shower /bath /toilet and hand wash basin to the left smart looking wardrobes with ample hanging space, a fully stocked mini bar and a safe which was discreetly tucked away. There is a sofa with table and a flat screen tv with dvd. The bed was huge, comfortable and had plenty of pillows. But it's all the little things that makes special. Obviously tea and coffee making facilities, a hair dryer, small packs in the toilet should you forget a razor? Toothbrush and toothpaste? Etc etc and all of these are replenished every day if you need to use them... Free of charge. You will also find bath robes and slippers to use at the pool/spa. (note that the pool is free to use but you can buy spa treatments)
A word about rooms like 225 that overlook the court yard. Courtyards are echoey and transmit sound and we could definitely heard people dining and enjoying a drink etc but a didn't ever hear a sound after midnight. The pool was covered on our visit and inside the temperature in the room was lovely and although the water is heated it's not like bath water but refreshing and we loved the water jets a jacuzzi like bubbles. The hotel as I said before is very close to the front and had a huge amount of tapas bars and restaurants within a short walk and you will not be short of choice. So that's it we had a wonderful time /stay at the Hospes Amerigo and I would without hesitation recommending you stayed here while visiting Alicante and I will definitely be back... Cheers Will.

We have stayed in this hotel twice It is absolutely lovely. Perfectly quiet, immaculate with lots of atmosphere. Food is wonderful, as is the spa. Nothing to complain about at all. We also visit for a glass of wine or lunch every time we are in Alicante. You will not find fault.

Stunning Hotel, perfect location

What an amazing experience staying at Hospes Amerigo Alicante. Greeted by excellent staff at reception. The room was exceedingly well appointed. Large bathroom with bath and rain shower. Huge towels which is rare! His and her sinks. Generous wardrobe space with mini fridge, tea/coffee making facility. Trouser press and the best hair dryer I’ve come across in a Hotel room. Tv with dvd and sofa. A most comfortable huge bed. Juliet balcony overlooking outside seating area below, all areas were spotlessly clean.There is a rooftop pool and sunloungers with a decked area with a bar and tapas available. Very relaxing, spa treatments available too. The breakfasts were excellent, plenty of variety, everything was fresh and beautifully presented. The Tapas bar too also provided a variety of beautifully prepared food. BUT the most outstanding point to make was the STAFF. Everyone was exceptional. Friendly, excellent at their job, multi lingual in many cases and a delight. Congratulations to the Team it was a fabulous stay

Hotel in a nice area of Alicante, old town and near the marina. A good selection of restaurants close by.
The hotel was OK, but not up to the standard of many 5* establishments. For example bathrobes and towels of poor quality and torn.
