An object lesson n getting the basics right. Very helpful as I was a late check in. Absolutely hassle free. Quality touches throughout. Clean, and elegant.
No ensuite but large basin n room. Beds very comfortable. Tea making faciilties in room.
Only complaints not enough desk top space for items and no milk for coffee.
Cannot recommend this one highly enough.

This has recently been taken over. The Spanish family we know recommended it. The tapas were fantastic. The roasted vegetables were particualrly good. Service was very prompt. They suggested we tried a new local wine which was delicious. The bill was very reasonable. We would definitely go there again

Absolutely excellent. Spotlessly clean and lovely quirky furnishings. Would stay again without hesitation. Even has its own bar and cafe. Our room even had a door leading onto a private little garden with chairs and table.

We were worried about staying at Hostal Fonda initially. It was so very discounted, visiting in January, I was concerned about staying warm, and the reviews were mixed.
We had no need for concern. Although the manager, Carmen, phoned just as we were boarding the plane from the UK, with a slightly garbled message about "leaving the key in the post box", when we finally arrived, we were given a warm welcome - quite literally - as the room and bathroom were toasty. The reception area is delghful, with a beautiful water feature, and lots of books to borrow. Candles lit the stairs, and the overall atmosphere is of care, generosity and consideration. Fair enough, the traffic is a wee bit noisy, but this is a TOWN. A very nice town too, with a wonderful medeival church and lovely areas in the old town to walk and explore. Next morning, we went to the town square for a great 3 euro breakfast of juice, good coffee and tomato toast. If you are wondering where to stay over on a trip between Valencia and Alicante, give the Hostal Fonda Maria in Benissa a try. Fantastic value for money, and good old Spanish style and hospitality. Thank you for a great stay.

Lovely room, very clean and very kind people, but.....
Noisy (room at back of the hostel with waterdrain and other machines).
Think it is to expensive for location and no breakfast.
Restaurant beside hostal is closed (for rent).
