Is the setting enough?

Beautiful location just outside the town. Our room was in the attic and a little small for the price off season. The hotel was not full so not sure why we were not given a better room. For over 120euros I expect to be able to sit on the toilet without my knees hitting the furniture and a more modern bathroom with a thermostatic shower. Restaurant is excellent and the waiter was he extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Although it all came at a price. Breakfast was good but also over priced with self boiled eggs the only hot option. Overall good but could be so much better.
Be pampered

A great hotel for anyone wishing to be pampered by friendly, attentive staff in a beautiful, tranquil setting. The restaurant has a good menu and the food is excellent. The rooms are cozy, albeit small and the wifi can be a bit poor.
Nice hotel rooms, but it's an old style building, the hotel is nicer inside, with spacious rooms, it's about 3km out of

The lady who welcomed us was friendly (forgot her name) but she said she's Algerian, she helped me lug my luggage to the second floor
Nice river views.
But they had a problematic wifi ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Hotel is about 3km out of town and the restaurant closes on Mondays
There's no lifts, makes it tedious when you have to drag your big luggage upstairs,
My room had a scenic view of the river
One improvement- if they could've a bridge next to the hotel to cross to the other side of the river for a quick and short hike
La Magie du Moulin.

I have been visiting the Cousin River Valley for forty years. The unspoiled beauty, the towering granite crags, the rushing water, the whispering greenery, the place is truly lost in time.
Found, fortunately, is Le Moulin des Ruats, an ancient watermill on the banks of the river. Expect a warm welcome, characterful rooms, some with river views and balconies. Look forward as well to quality local cuisine, a delicious Terroir menu and generous breakfast buffet.
Check out the promotional offers on the menu that make this magical experience even more affordable. France has many beauties to offer. His spot is up there with the best.
Beautiful Little Hotel in the Heart of Nature
SomedayTrips on 24/04/2017 22:24
On our road trip from Paris to Switzerland, we stayed a night at this quaint and charming hotel located in the heart of nature in the Burgundy region of France. As we passed through the town of Avallon on our way to the hotel, we were not sure if we were on the right road as it was a narrow winding road along a river in the forest. We had doubts as to whether our navigation system was leading us in the right direction. But we pressed on a little further and voila! Tucked away in the woods was the entrance to Moulin des Ruats situated in this tranquil woodsy setting, very green and lush where you can hear the flowing water of the river Cousin just steps away.
The hotel is small, rustic and old world charming. We were quickly greeted by their cheery and friendly host, Muriel. She showed us to our room, which was perfectly situated on the corner of the main hotel building and had a small balcony and amazing views of the stream, lush forest, and the working watermill right outside the window, which they do turn it off at night for a peaceful sleep.
Our room was elegant, cozy, very clean and decorated with vintage French style furnishings and had all the desired amenities for a comfortable stay. We opened our balcony doors and windows to let in the fresh crisp air and listen to the rushing water sound of the river and the splashing of the water going over the watermill. It was invigorating.
The hotel has a restaurant serving gourmet cuisine and a dining room that is surrounded by windows affording excellent views of the natural setting. We relaxed in the lounge area with a coupe of Champagne before dinner. After all, we had to enjoy real champagne while we were in France. The lounge was like a library with comfortable chairs and tall bookcases full of old historical books.
After we enjoyed our cocktail, we were invited to take our seats in the dining room, which was very intimate and quiet with soft jazz playing in the background. We had a delicious meal artfully presented on beautiful dinnerware. When the weather is nice, you can dine outside by the river's edge. It was unseasonably chilly with occasional rain when we were there. But dining inside was still quite enjoyable as we could look out the large windows at the warmly lit watermill, river and surrounding hotel grounds.
We had a relaxing and memorable stay at this charming and scenic hotel. We highly recommend a stay at this hotel if you're in the Burgundy region. The staff was always friendly and accommodating. Staying here in this idyllic natural setting was very relaxing and romantic.
