good place to stay if you are at srinagar. behaviour of the staff is a great plus. Walk around you will get to see plants/trees of apple, orange and grapes in the courtyard. Hotel is almost overlooking the famous Dal lake. Thank you Zafferji for your hospitality.

It is fabulous hotel with lots of greenery around. Very well behaved and polite staffs, conformtable rooms and facilities, perfect location, just one word, exxcellent!

Akbar hotel sonmarg I recommend every family to stay at ,lovely and friendly staff and owner of the hotel , rooms are big clean and well furnished , food was excellent and most beautiful place I have ever stayed

I'm from Chennai, working as an IT professional. We visited Kashmir between 8th May and 12th May 2017. It was my first visit to Kashmir with my mom and dad and we were so excited about it. However, news about unrest prevailing in Kashmir made me to think twice about the trip. My friends too raised their eyebrows when I said I am visiting Kashmir, that too with my parents. On the one side, I could sense that problems are part of any geography and media hype could add to it. Having all these thoughts, I called Hotel Akbar and checked their views, and only after convincing talk by Mr. Jaffar ji, I trusted and went there. He proved me right..!
We had a very pleasant stay with a wonderful and memorable experience in Kashmir. Hotel Akbar is a lake front hotel with a beautiful garden. Our room had A/C (not required in Kashmir :D), hot water supply, enough beds and blankets, decent bathroom and other amenities, with delicious dinner and decent breakfast.
The best thing about the hotel is its staff with their all time smiling face and willingness to provide the best service to their guests. We were overwhelmed by the warmth of the staff members. We made a couple of changes to our planned schedule and Jaffar ji accepted readily without hesitance. It was more of a family rather than a professional hotel, which we liked the most. Apart from Jaffar ji and Sadiq ji, even most of staff members speak/understand English, which was really helpful for someone like me who knows little Hindi.
My mom said, "I feel like we are at home".
My father said, "These guys are meaning for hospitality". I was surprised because my dad is so conservative and academic. It's difficult to serve upto his expectations. Getting such words really matters.
We took a package tour for 4 days (for a pretty decent price) with Akbar Hotels and the driver who took us all around Kashmir for 3 days, was so pleasing and explained things in good english. Overall we felt at home, had a wonderful experience with warm people at an amazing place. Every request of us was served with the best possible smile. I am looking forward to visiting Kashmir again. And, in Sonamarg, the real paradise of Kashmir (I say this because the moment you reach the Srinagar airport, you can see "Welcome to the paradise on earth", and I realised the true meaning of it at this place) Akbar Hotels has a hotel in between the snowy mountains and it was amazing. I am so eager to stay there next time when I visit Kashmir.
General Notes about Kashmir:
1. Internet connectivity is poor in the whole of the valley. Be prepared. The hotel has free wifi but all along Kashmir connectivity is very poor
2. Airtel poor. Vodafone and Jio was good. BSNL was ok. You can make calls/SMS.

Nice Hotel with a nice view with a perfect view of lake,Friendly staff with a nice smiles on their faces,The garden of the hotel is beautiful. I can suggest everyone to stay in this hotel,One shouldn't miss to stay in this,It's a kind of little resort.
