We booked short notice (yes Travelocity ratings and bookings.com rating help).
Did we know how historic this place is and how amazing they renovated ! Our room was not to the back with a view but even then the morning view to the mountains was priceless - the morning fog burning away and suddenly the blue skies breaking through...
The room is historic but Reno job done well - real well. You see the beams and the upper section of the house structure without feeling old or dated. The bathroom small but immaculate done (brand new to be specific) and a historic bed frame that is truly couple enabled.
The staff is very friendly and helpful - even with things like parking (FYI - yes they do have parking at a place where others do not even enter with their cars. So trust your instincts when you hit the street and your brain yells "do not drive there". :).
Food is great - the lamb for dinner was yelling for a second portion which was naturally not ordered after amazing appetizer and first pasta course. All fresh done.
Breakfast was lovely - do not expect a monster buffet - there are not many rooms and it would be a waste. Instead expect several cheese, meats, cakes, cereals superb coffee , fresh (seriously and not watered down) juice and you ask for eggs your liking.... in other words : welcome to heaven in the morning.
We stayed for the long weekend and enjoy it.

Tucked away on the top of a mountain this small boutique hotel is a real gem. Beautifully decorated in a 1920's elegant style perched on the mountain its almost like stepping back in time. We had dinner on the narrow verandah which overlooks the most stunning scenery. Unfortunately the foenicular railway was closed when we were there but we had a hire car so could explore the area very easily. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with William Morris curtain fabric and panoramic views through the window. Fabulous food and you must try their delicious liqueur which is their own delucious creation. Although you can't park at the hotel, you soon get used to the short walk. We would definitely return to enjoy the sparkle again.

Wow, wow, wow! What a splendid hotel with absolutely magnificent views and superior service values. The owners and staff are simply superb - with hospitality running through their veins. The food is exceptional, the rooms well appointed and immaculate... their special home-made orange liqueur is delightful!

The hotel location is fantastic such amazing view you couldn't see somewhere else. The stuff is very hospitable and friendly. The room was very clean with fantastic view from terrace. Restaurant is average but good. The view and the location of this hotel is the reason for stay where. Probably the best place in fabulous Varese town

We stayed here for one night and had dinner at the restaurant. The room was very nice and clean. We even had the choice to choose between two rooms as the hotel was not fully booked. The view from the terrasse is amazing. The service is excellent and the food was good. I recommend this hotel to stay in Sacro Monte.
