The location is best. Less crowded area. Hotel has own lawn and restaurant. Food quality is good. Room is ok. It is best for the people who want to avoid har-ki-pouri/market crowds. You can also bath it's own ghat (Alakananda Ghat).

One of the best place to stay over the ghat of Ganga. One cant ask for anything more, beautiful, calmness ,clean Ganga ghat, freshness, homely food and hospitality. Not too high- level room decor , maintained and equipped with all basic needs of stay.

I am visiting this place last few years regularly.
I sit facing Ganga Maa and pray for my forefathers.
I love to stay at Alaknanda as they take care of my all necessities. ....
All the staff members are very concerned to give me all the available comfort.
A clean and fresh ambience attracts me.

The place seems to have gone down since our previous visit 2 years ago. The rooms are badly maintained and we did not find them very clean.
We were charged exactly double of the MRP for bottled water in the restaurant! Even the service wasn't that great. One of the fans in the room did not work.
The only advantage is the location and availability of clean and safe bathing ghat on the Ganga.
Over priced for what they provide.

Hotel Alaknanda is run by UP tourism and is located on the main Delhi highway adjacent to River Ganges, Hotel offers you the basic rooms with AC but the biggest advantage is that they have private ghat. Ghat is neat and well maintained, and you need not to go to the busy lanes in the haridwar town for holy dip. Rooms on the ground floor are lawn facing and rooms on first and second floors have great ganges view. They have lift in the hotel and dedicated parking area.
