Had a pleasant stay in this hotel for 4 days between 9th-12th Nov 2016; First of all I should thank the hotel personnel. They were highly courteous and helped us a lot; I landed on the day when the demonetization of 500 and 1000 rupee notes were announced; I had mostly 500 rupees notes. Since this hotel does not have the card swiping machine, the mode of payment is only by cash. All the Banks and ATMs were crowded or left with no cash. Luckily I had my cheque book in my bag; The total expense for 4 days stay was INR 9500; I gave them the cheque for INR 15000 on the day of check out; They gave me balance of 5500 rupees on hand; That is the amount of trust they are placing on the customers. ( The cheque that I gave to them got credited to their account 3 days later); Hotel ambience is good; Only Veg food is available - Value for money; Just a day before our visit, we booked the room in this hotel over phone. We were fortunate to get the biggest room in the hotel. The room was clean and tidy; Bathroom was also spacious and there was a separate dressing room; Room service was also excellent; Free Wi-Fi is also available; The hotel does not have lift facility. Our room was in the 3rd floor.Our room was facing the mountain view; From the balcony, we had our cuppa watching the snow covered Mt. Kanchenjunga.
The hotel is just 5 mins walk from MG Marg.
Overall it was a very good experience for us while staying in this hotel

We had booked this hotel based on the recommendation of a known person. Our experience with this hotel was not good. It is not that there was any particular problem but we wanted a neat and clean room with comfortable stay.
This hotel is lika a guest house and not a hotel. at the same time tariff is also comparatively high.
It lacked a proper restaurant. Wi Fi was there but signal was not available upto room. We did not tried food as the kitchen and dining area was not looking to be clean.
Only good thing was that it was near to Gangtok market and the staff was gentle.

The location of the hotel is great but the stairs are too steep. Always insist on getting a mountain view room so you can see the Kangchenjunga mountain right from your room. The rates are cheap if you book from any of the hotel booking portals but do confirm by calling to the hotel management.

Visited Asian Heights in Oct 2015.
Location: Kazi road near legislative Assembly
Booking mode: neft (also available on goibibo app)
Pros
1. Big and clean bathroom with geyser
2. Clean quilts
3. Have heard restaurant is good but did not try any food from there as it claimed to be purely vegetarian.
Cons:
1. Scary, harassing management: Their booking is not available online on their website. I was also not able to connect through goibibo. So I called them up and was informed room tariff was Rs. 2200 and I have to transfer a booking amount of Rs.2000 and was also given their account details. So I transferred the amount to their account through online banking. But they did not give any confirmation of receipt nor of booking in spite of repeated requests. On arrival the person at the front desk promptly informed there is no booking in my name. Then on repeated requests and showing the payment proof. He called up someone and gave us a non mountain view room in the 3rd floor. Soon enough we found every room had complimentary breakfast. When I approached them they denied giving us any saying I didn't ask about it on phone!! Then when I requested I wanted to check out the next day as they were overcharging(same room was available at half the price on goibibo with complimentary breakfast...grrr) they started arguing. This in spite of the fact that I had paid for one day in advance whatever they had asked for one day and I was just modifying my itinerary. This in spite of the fact they were not bothered to give a confirmation of my booking after repeated requests though I transferred the amount in good faith. They told me I cant leave just the way I wanted to and will be allowed only after discussing with others!! I felt like they were forcibly trying to confine us. Didn't feel safe in that situation especially staying with my wife.
2. The hotel is connected to mg marg, the main boulevard of Gangtok with a 150 steps steep staircase. It's nothing while going down. While climbing up...its a different story. It's almost like climbing up 10-11 floors. Moreover the steps are pitch dark in stretches. Sikkim is known to be safe but gravity isnt. This is not 'near' to mg marg by wildest of imaginations
3. Really dirty linen and pillowcases with soiled patches. Yuck
4. No other amenities: didn't even have a soap in their bathroom. They had a really old, really small TV which gave grainy humanoid forms. So at night you have nothing to do as the mg marg is also pretty far off.
Overall really bad experience. Not recommended at all.

As mentioned in my previous reviews also that I always look up to VFM deals when it come to stay. This property holds the highest ranking when comes to VFM.
Rooms are spacious and clean. There is much space in room for a family of 2+2 for moving around without colliding with each other.
Bathroom provides ample space so that you don't need to do aerobics while doing your daily chores. Toilet was clean and bucket was also clean.
Staff is courteous and friendly. Everything we asked for was provided within time. We were in fact allowed to go inside the kitchen and tell chef what kind of noodles we want.
Last but not the least is the location :- Right on top of MG road Take the staircase and you hit MG road right in front of Subway. On a clear sky day you may be able to see the Kanchendzonga from your Balcony (please ask for room with view)
Price : decent, very much in the budget of traveller.
