Like at home

It's been 7 years that my husband and I come regularly here twice a year for business. It is realy our second home. Stuff know us, and new boys are always better. They renovate every couple of years rooms and bath-rooms, so for India it is unusually clean and nit. Reception is 24h working for all your needs. It is not big hotel so you get a feeling you are at home. The owner comes every our stay and shows his respects and worm welcome. The location is best because you are not in big crowd of center, and yet not far from it. We strongly recomend this hotel, runned by traditional Indian family what you realy feel in its every corner.

recently stayed at this hotel with G adventures. I dont know what the cost of the rooms is. Hotel is fine. They have food which they get from somewhere which is fine. Staff is good. Wifi is difficult to get in the room. however, the location of the hotel is in the middle of a car part 'bazaar' and if you arrive at night, you may be un-nerved. Dont let it scare you. Hotel is safe and fine. I would not advise walking around the area. Take a tuk tuk. There is supposed to be a market to go visit within walking distance, but I didnt have the nerve. The street its on is extremely busy with traffic.
Good stay if on a budget

This hotel is a good stay if on a budget. The staff are friendly and willing to assist. The Wi-Fi connection is good but does not work in the eating area. The breakfast is tasty but your options are very limited. Rooms are neat and a good size. Meets RSA standards of a 3 star hotel.
Surroundings scary

Hotel had happy service people! Rooms were clean but there was no top sheet provided! Air conditioning was noisey. Breakfast was served in a below ground room, no atmosphere! Food was hot and coffee ok for India.
OK for "downtown"

The Aster is a budget property for tourists that's fairly well kept up, although laundry and cleaning utensils are commonly seen laying around and the service rooms are often left open for unsightly viewing. Staff and friendly and competent, except that the dining room folks may not be English-speakers. We stayed twice and found one room in perfect shape and the second room with spotty AC and sketchy hot water. WIFI was spotty on being up and slow when it was up. The best is in the basement! Still, at this price it's fine. The location is in the auto-repair district so traffic and noise are constant, even into the night. Safe restaurants are two to five blocks away and, of course, walking is its own hazard. Tuktuks and cabs can get through slowly. Not far from a metro line, too, maybe five blocks.
