What People are saying

Great Location

Andrew W on 03/11/2017 00:33

Great Hotel in great location, regular rooms are very very small but that is Paris.
Close to all the fabulous tourist attractions and shopping, Subway station is also very close. Great Hotel however book a bigger room if you can afford it.

Great staff and location

The reception and concierge staff at this hotel are fantastic and will remember your name after one greeting.

They were really welcoming on check in, but seemed to have a lot of distractions. I was asked to wait for one of them to help me with my bags, but they kept on answering phone calls. And what I really wanted was a welcome drink, but it wasn’t obvious if they would ever serve it to me. So I’m the end I took my own bags to my room.

The rooms are small (given it’s Paris). I got a suite and it of course had plenty of room, but I took a look at the map behind the door and it had almost twice the room of others.

The bed was extremely comfortable and cozy. The light switches were all over the place, and there was never a button that switched everything off. The fridge was warm, so I didn’t place anything in there, and I couldn’t find a corkscrew (this is France after all!!). The toiletries were Hermès branded.

Aside from all the little things, I had a really comfortable stay (the blockout curtains are amazing). It was so central and pretty much right next to the metro. There’s also a small supermarché around the corner for snacks, etc.

I Wanted to Give it a 5 but Couldn’t

Now let me start by saying this is a very beautiful property. Well decorated, beautiful building. Etc. But..

Things weren’t as they should be. Let’s start with the positives. The reception staff are professional, quick and nice. Bathroom had great pressure, and the room was clean.

Little things started piling up, first the housekeeping staff need either management change or a total change. That lady that came to pick up my laundry for pressing literally walked it without permission all the while loudly jabbering on her phone.

Second thing I didn’t like was room service. I was on business so it was key to my stay since I didn’t have time/inclination to dine out and the food choices were weak, and quality was poor with some items missing and taste sub-par. For a French hotel is was odd to have a larger choice of burgers than anything else.

Though the bed was clean it was MURDER on my back. The mattress was hard and lumpy (two twins stuck together and as such sloping at both sides), made it impossible to have a good nights sleep.

The housekeeping is also very rushed. On one day they hadn’t picked up a teaspoon I used to stir my tea, nor had they replaced my cups/tea/water/snacks, or the breakfast order sheet so I slowly ran out of utensils throughout my stay until I called for replacement (one guy came holding three cups in his hand, didn’t even bother using a tray).

Also one morning as I was leaving in a hurry I accidentally dropped the pen and left without picking it up. When I returned the room was clean but the pen didn’t move, so then I realised in their rush (same day of the I removed spoon) they didn’t bother vacuuming.

Finally, and this was what motivated me to write a negative review, the WiFi. It was so painfully slow, I didn’t even realise they made internet that slow in 2017. Come on people fast internet in guest rooms is modern hospitality 101.

Anyway if you overlook uncomfortable beds, slow internet and accept slightly less than perfect service, the rest of the staff were perfect, and the hotel beautiful.

Location not the best, but for the district is ideal.

Fell in love with our room

I've been to Paris many times but this time we decided to try a new hotel and I have to say that it was a pleasant change. The suit is spacious and the small balconies have flower pots which makes the mornings very pleasant. The hotel appears to be newly renovated and everything was so neat. The breakfast was also good.

Excellent Head Concierge!

tomasa797 on 25/10/2017 07:37

All places of interest for our whole stay were recommended by the head concierge which resulted in a most pleasant and very memorable experience for me and my wife's 30th wedding anniversary trip starting from check-in oct 5 to checkout oct 10 at Sofitel Baltimore Paris!
