Typical Elban hospitality
AmoraItaliaon 10/09/2011 11:53We had left a miserable “hotel” in Rio Marino and had been driving around for a few hours trying to find somewhere reasonable for the night. We looked at several places that were smelly, rife with damp, scary owners and so on. Running out of ideas, we stumbled across this place. I'm not sure if the man on reception was having a bad day or 'something' but the unfriendliness verging on contempt was award-winning.
The room was fine, not a lot of room but adequate.
Breakfast was served in a very old fashioned room with a strong odour - hospital food like smell prevailed which was off-putting.
Unfortunately we found Elba to be unlike anywhere else in Italy - zero hospitality, no welcome, no warmth; it's like your presence is a massive inconvenience to everyone in a service capacity. We were amazed and baffled by the claims of paradise like holidays; geographically possibly, but that’s it.
We did one night and got out of there as fast as the Twingo could carry us back to the Real Italy.
Never again.
