For approximately $76 US/night the Barranquilla Plaza exceeded all expectations. Friendly and attentive service, convenient central location, clean modern rooms and great breakfast buffet. We had a comfy king bed in the newer Cayena Tower. The hotel lobby is currently undergoing renovations to join the two hotel towers. Breakfast is served in a poolside setting with indoor and outdoor seating. Eggs, omelettes, arepas, and empanadas are made fresh to order at the poolside grill. Amazing ‘arepa con huevo’ made to order: an arepa with egg inside!
Bathroom showers include shower wand and rainhead. DirectTV, amenity kits, stocked mini-bar, good lighting, USB charger, iron and programmable safe.
Walking distance to excellent restaurants and shopping.

I stayed here on business and the hotel is clean and in a nice area. However the rooms need some updates. The WIFI is terrible and would only work part of the time. The TV in our room was also not working.
The breakfast buffet was good but not overly extensive.

We stayed a total of 10 nights....Very friendly and welcoming....Loved the location of the hotel, very central, safe, convenient, within walking distance to other restaurants and shops. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to meet our needs! They stored our luggage while we visited other areas in the country and when we returned they were excited to see us and made us feel right at home. We met one of the owners (Paul) and found him to be very nice and most of all very humble, he was interested in our experience during our stay and always made it a point to stop and say hello! The restaurants in the hotel offered a great variety of food, but we truly enjoyed Piso 26 where we we had dinner almost every night and enjoyed the views and friendliness of all the staff....We are so looking forward to returning to Barranquilla!!!

What we like most about this hotel is the breakfast, infinite variety. The curtains are old, but the bed is comfortable.Once we were moved to the room because the curtain did not close. Breakfast recommended!

I stayed here three nights as a participant in a Field Guides birding tour. Although the hotel is a 45-minute drive from the airport in tough traffic, it is located in the best part of town and I had no reservations about walking in the hotel area. The hotel is new and very well-maintained, with delightful grounds, two pool areas and lots of birds in the pool plantings/palm trees. The food in the poolside restaurant was excellent and breakfast is included in the room rate. Staff were very pleasant and wonderfully helpful.
A warning: There is a night spot high in the hotel on the 25th floor (I believe). My room was four floors below it and the base line from the dance-floor music carried down into my room through the hotel structure; the night-spot is open until 3 am on Friday and Saturday. The night desk manager was very helpful when I complained about the night-spot noise in my 21st floor room and offered me the use for the night of a room lower in the hotel without having to move my belongings. On my second stay at the hotel at the end of my birding trip ,my room on the tenth floor was quiet all night.
So, I heartily recommend this hotel, but take a room on or below the tenth floor if you want a quiet room, particularly on Friday/weekend nights.
