A Lovely and Rustic Place by The Beach
Misterpepitoon 25/06/2017 03:33Hotel BaXar is located by what appears to be an unkept neighborhood. However, once inside the Hotel, you will find a lovely beach and good accommodations. Service is friendly and the food was delicious. We booked the Master Suite which comes with AC. However, when we arrived the AC was not working due to a power shortage. They apologized for the inconvenience and provided us with a fan. However, and due to them knowing that this could happen given the area where the hotel is located, they should have a power backup as it is very hot during the summer. As such, caution with staying at this place without AC during the summer season. Nights are hot and humid and given the lack of AC our stay was not as pleasant as we would have liked it to be. Regardless, recommend this place for people wanting to stay in a friendly and more genuine place far enough from civilization.
No AC / Dirty pool, besides that... excellent hotel
Arelia Con 20/04/2017 06:28The last time I was there, the only room with AC was the master suite (more than twice expensive as the regular rooms). The pool was dirty with extremely cloudy water, besides that Excellent service. Excellent restaurant service and cocktails!
A nice place to stay for a sunset or a couple of days of relax

Pie de la Cuesta is the place, people go to watch spectacular sundowns.
You can enjoy the beach, but should be a good and experienced swimmer if you want to go into the ocean. The waves are high and the beach drops very steeply into the ocean, which means you will have a strong undertow.
I came back to this hotel / restaurant several years and have been an eyewitness how the new administration improved installations.
Prices are reasonable, quality of food is good and you can go there for only watching sunset, or stay a couple of days, relaxing with the sound of crashing waves, hanging out at the little swimming pool and enjoy the familiar atmosphere.
Keep going that way!

Teresa Ron 24/07/2016 23:51Our room was clean, so were towels and sheets, nice and comfy. Quiet and great location. Staff was friendly, waiters and waitresses were super friendly. Only that I had to request another fan because it was too hot in the room and there is no AC. To me the minus of this hotel-restaurant was that the restaurant has no restrictions for smokers which is a requirement in most hotels and restaurants in Mexico. I made a suggestion to put a non-smoking sign but the manager said it was an "open place" .... so expect to have meals with smokers around.
Mix of everything
Luis Aon 03/05/2016 01:37I visited this hotel twice in the las couple of months due to work (Photography). It is really quiet and has a relaxed atmosphere, opposed to most other hotel in central Acapulco which for me is a plus, also on the bright side rooms are spacious and have a safe free of charge. The beach views are really nice, however the hotel is dated and since it is environmental oriented it has no air conditioner in any of the rooms and believe me, it can get really hot at night. Besides the heat issue, mosquitoes can get through the doors so you may get bit some times during the night.
It is the best hotel in the area of Pie de la Cuesta, but in terms of comfort I would rate it on the low side of the scale considering it has on average the same rates as newer hotels in La Costera and even Diamante areas.
Summarizing, if you really want to go to Pie de la Cuesta and stay the night there then Baxar is the best choice, on my personal view I think it is backpacker oriented and/or for people who just want to relax for long periods and don´t mind not having modern comforts. If you have more freedom to choose accommodation in any other area of Acapulco I would stay in Costera or Diamante Areas, since the hotel rates are pretty much the same but the difference in comfort is very big.
