Cosy Family Run Hotel

Hotel Bergkranz is a family run hotel.
All the staffs are really friendly, breakfast and dinner is amazing too!
Room is clean and best of all, the view is amazing.
The only downside is that parking may be limited.
it's about 15mins drive to Tirol where there're more activities.
For skiing, 45mins drive to Stubai Glacier.
Another wonderful stay at the Bergkranz

This was our second year at the wonderful Bergkranz enjoying the warm and ever helpful hospitality of the Weichinger family and staff. We enjoyed our first year with them but probably enjoyed our second even more, due in part to our now better local knowledge of the ski area and also 2nd time round you are now part of the family at the hotel, home from home. Peter the owner had even taken on board some of my comments from last year and the menu now had an English translation, which made life far easier for us. The hotel is very well situated on the side of the valley with stunning views from room balconies and restaurant and the rooms are well sized, clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant is excellent and plentiful for both breakfast and dinner, with plentiful afternoon snacks also set out for guests on return from the slopes for those in need after a hard days skiing. Cannot recommend this hotel and the Schlick 2000 ski area enough for especially families, the hotel is perfect, the ski area is great and all only 15 minutes from Innsbruck airport.
Very nice staff, excellent location

I stayed here for three nights half-board with my girlfriend and, overall, we had a very nice stay. We may use it again. We booked it through hotels.com (note: if you do too, note that the cc is only for reservation - full bill to be paid at check-out directly to the hotel). I would have given it 5 out of 5 score, had it not been for the negative points I list below. But if you are considering staying here, if you follow my suggestions below you could easily have a 5/5 experience.
The POSITIVES:
We arrived half-hour after the normal dinner time but the chef owner had very kindly prepared some food for us anyway, knowing we were going to be late. That was very much appreciated.
The property is very conveniently located just minutes away from the motorway and very easy to get to with whatever type of car you may be driving.
The building does not look like your typical "mountain cottage" but is more of a mixture between traditional and modern. Not everybody's taste for sure, but we liked it.
Check-in was super-easy and the girl at reception was extremely, extremely friendly. We were shown to our room which was good sized and very clean. We even had a balcony which was also nice. Bed was comfy, nice large flat-screen TV (note: no international channels), in-room safe, work-desk, plenty of storage room and e nice sofa chair. Toilette was clean and large with spacious shower with a strong flow of water. So - nothing to complain about there!
Food is basic but good. Portions are very generous. Breakfast is also basic but lots of different choices. With the half-board option you get to chose in the morning between three different main courses for dinner. The eating area is very nice (ask to be sit in the restaurant room though as the separate dining room is smaller and ... well, just not as nice).
Everybody speaks very good English. Free car parking is available (limited capacity - first come first served).
2 minutes walk from the hotel and you can start your hike to the mountain - just beautiful! 5 minutes walk from the hotel and you can get to the mountain lift (which is free for you to use with the pass the hotel hands you at check-in - free of charge - wonderful!).
The best feature of this hotel though is indisputably the two staff members (the girl at reception/restaurant and the restaurant waiter) who work there: they truly go above and beyond their job description to insure you have a pleasant stay. They were always very friendly, kind, thoughtful and genuine. Thank you for that!
Now the NEGATIVES:
The hotel advertises itself as a "Pet friendly hotel" without specifying any limitation. However, as soon as we went down for dinner on the first night, the lady owner told us rather harshly that the dog was not allowed in the restaurant. Whilst I may understand and accept the rationale (not everybody like dogs after all), I never appreciate it when hotels provide wrong or incomplete information at time of booking. Also, since I pointed this out to the hotel staff, I would have appreciated it the same lady owner had come back to us and offered a friendly apology.
The hotel also advertises a "full service SPA" - this was a bit of a disappointment as they actually keep the SPA off during summer and ask guests to let them know if / when they want to use it. Naturally, we ended up not using it at all (maybe that's the whole point of keeping it off). The sauna looked ok but the steam room looked very basic (e out of plastic looking material).
We also had a very unpleasant experience one evening: the hotel had booked a wedding party in their restaurant. We were not informed of this at time of booking nor at check-in. The same day, at breakfast, we were simply asked to come to dinner at 6pm. Fine enough, we thought. However, when we went down, we found out that they had reserved the entire restaurant area for the wedding guests and squeezed all hotel guests in the second dining room (the less nice one). The worst thing of all was that they had us share a table with other guests. Some people may like that, we hate it. Besides, that's not what we paid for. Again, the hotel surely had booked the wedding many days prior and they should have told us at time of booking so that we could have made a more informed decision as to whether or not we wanted to stay.
Last, there is no wifi in the room, or on the terrace - just in the restaurant area.
In short: very nice and clean 3-star hotel with excellent location, friendly staff and good value for money. Just remember to ask if they are planning any special event during your stay, if they have any restriction if you are bringing a pet and if the SPA is actually on. That's it.
Fabulous family run hotel, will return

This is a 15 room family run hotel set on the side of the valley with breath taking views from the restaurant and room balconies. The owner is chef, receptionist and mini bus driver and to say nothing is too much trouble is a great understatement. If you want a relaxed, friendly, intimate and excellent standard hotel, then look no further. Innsbruck airport is only 20 mins away and the owner will pick you up and drop off again for a round trip of 50 euro's, great service and short transfer especially if you have young children. The hotel is predominantly used by German, Italian, Dutch, Austrian and Polish clients and up to now they have not really received many guests from the UK, we shall definitely return next year. The food is excellent and extremely plentiful and of course of local flavour, but the owner will accommodate most requests. The owner will also shuttle you to the slopes everyday and arrange a return time as well, all FOC. There are 4 skiing areas in the valley catering for all levels but the Schlick 2000 area is fabulous and we would recommend the Intesport ski hire in Fulpmes and the Schischule Stubai for ski school, the ski hire was easy and the ski school staff were fabulous with our 5 and 8 year olds. All ski schools start on Sunday, but private lessons can be arranged. If both adults hire from Intesport the kids get free equipment hire and all kids get free lift pass until the age of 10, so win win all round.
Difficult to put down the overall fantastic experience of the hotel and ski area into words, but the following tries to sum up.
For a well priced skiing holiday in a great valley with a short transfer time and a wonderful friendly cosy hotel that goes that extra yard for the client, then look no further than the BERGKRANZ.
