Los Balcones is a charming hotel with lots of character. The rooms are organized around a pretty courtyard, and they are comfortable and well-appointed. It is near the center of town and most tourists sites are an easy walk. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The internet service, however, was a little "spotty."

This is a beautiful 186 year old mansion converted into a hotel. We loved the hotel. The staff, Jonathan, Pablo, Santiago and the rest of the staff were absolutely wonderful, service always with a smile. We have not received more hospitality anywhere in the world we stayed. The breakfast offering was complete for anyone, A variety of fresh fruit, waffles, eggs, sausage, some local pastries, a variety of fresh juice and the coffee hot and plentiful. I don't know how anyone could complain. The rooms were clean and comfortable with very nice bathrooms along with plenty of hot water. We walked mile upon mile in the old city with perfect directions from the staff to the many places to which we visited. Taxi rides were inexpensive and easily accessed in front of the hotel, the most we payed for any ride was $2.50 and that was all the way across the city of Cuenca..
I have two complaints, one is not something to be blamed on the hotel. The hotel is in the middle of the old city and it is LOUD. Dogs barking all night, loud music at times, buses, trucks and motorcycles starting at day break and into the night. If you decide to stay here, bring earplugs and a sleep mask.
The second complaint is the WiFi, it was spotty, sometimes working perfectly sometimes not working at all. If I was going to recommend any changes to the hotel, I would tell them to get that WiFi upgraded. I was basically just trying to weather and news, not streaming anything. Gentlemen get an upgrade.

We enjoyed our stay at Los Balcones... nice and friendly staff and it's location made it easy for walks around.
The suite bedroom was well decorated and confortable, with some extra pillows and blankets to make it better at night.
Definitely the number one choice by TripAdvisor

We decided to stay for 4 days at this hotel, the rooms where comfortable and clean! Breakfast was included, it was a full service (fruit, pancakes, eggs of your choice, little pastries, local fruit natural juices, variety of cheeses, etc). The staff of the hotel was beyond amazing and accommodating they did a very good job helping us decide what trips to take outside Cuenca and what places to visit! The restaurant of the hotel is very good and they try to make everything you ask for.
Santiago the breakfast guy was excellent! the only bad thing was that the wi/fi signal was very low in the upper level of the hotel!

We had 8 days of comfort, great food, and exceptional service. The building is very attractive, the room was very comfortable. We highly recommend the food (including breakfast buffet) .
The staff went out of the way to make us happy and comfortable. We highly recommend Hotel Los Balcones.
