What People are saying

Fantastic value

Andrew Ron 10/09/2017 09:44

We didn't realise what a "chalet hotel" was when we booked but having experienced it we can't believe what tremendous value it was.
The very young British staff ( one got his A level results whilst we were there) were all fantastic, friendly, efficient and proficient managed by a very capable manageress. The young chefs produced very high quality food including afternoon tea and canapés. This was not just mass produced mediocre food it was high quality restaurant fayre.
The packed lunch which was prepared on 5 days was quite substantial and handy day whilst trekking the mountain trails. The wine included with the evening meal was free flowing and the pre dinner aperitif was very pleasant.
On one day all the staff had the day off and you had a continental breakfast served by the manageress and then had to fend for yourselves which wasn't a problem as there were various restaurants and bars nearby.
One thing just to be aware of is that apart from soap they do not provide any toiletries.
Champoluc itself was lovely and an ideal base for walking and hiking.
Would thoroughly recommend it.

Traditional Chalet Hotel

Irene Bon 02/09/2017 22:11

The chalet hotel was full of character and our room was lovely. We had plenty of storage space. There was also a safe and a fridge in the room. There is a Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna on the ground floor but unfortunately the Jacuzzi was not working while we were there - not that it bothered us. The food was excellent and it also had a good choice of wine. The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful - nothing was too much trouble for them.

There were plenty of walks for all abilities in the area. The public transport in the area was excellent. The lift system was extremely good value and excellent.

Great 2 week stay

This was our third chalet hotel holiday with Inghams. The chalet hotels are very popular and great value for money when you realise what is included.

The Breithorn is one of the original hotels in Champoluc. It has some lovely old wood features in the hotel. There is a very spacious lounge and a nice seating area outside. Even though the hotel was full it did not get crowded in the public areas.

Our room 307 was a good size room with plenty of storage and also had a small balcony. The room contained a safe and a empty minibar which could be used as a fridge. The only toiletries supplied are small bars of soap, you will need to bring along shampoo and shower gel etc.

The food was not as good as we have had in other chalet hotels but we had no problems ourselves, The hotel is well staffed and it was very good for getting an early start. Breakfast started at 7.30am and the sandwiches were made by the night porter so no waiting around for them, the waiting staff brought them to your table as you were having breakfast. On most mornings porridge or pancakes were offered and there were hot plates with bacon, sausage, egg, tomato and mushrooms. Cereals including muesli was available and fruit and yoghurt. There was some nice home made bread and some cheese and ham and boiled eggs (cold). Juice, tea and coffee to drink. Evening meals are three courses with choice followed by tea or coffee cheese and truffles. Afternoon tea is normally served between 4 pm and 5pm but because of the good weather Val the manager had this extended to 5.30 pm. Before the evening meal pre dinner drinks and canapes are served in the lounge. You won't go hungry in a chalet hotel.

The young staff are very friendly and helpful and this makes for a relaxing holiday. The hotel was well run by the manager Val and the rep Paula was very helpful. Think though they could do with a rep in this hotel who had some experience of the walks available in the area. Paula did point out that there was an offer on the weekly lift price in August when it was reduced by half to an affordable £49. Leaflets were provided to be filled in and stamped by the hotel so that the reduction could be obtained.

Champoluc is in a super setting and the walking is excellent. However it is not a easy walking area and there are a lot of steep and rocky paths to negotiate to get the best of the area. There are five lifts in the area and these link in with another seven lifts so you can visit both the Gressoney and Alagna valleys as well as a lift to the Induren glacier. All of these lifts are included in the weekly lift pass. There is an excellent free bus service with two circular routes a red route to St Jacques (every 20 minutes) and a blue route to Antagnod and the Ayas villages (every 40 minutes).

We were so lucky with the weather, we did not have to put our waterproofs on once. It only rained a couple of times and this was in the evening. Most days were sunny with clear blue skies.

Great Time In Champoluc.

My wife and I stayed for 2 weeks and had a marvellous time. The staff were brilliant and made it a holiday to remember. The area was beautiful and some of the walks were breathtaking. Food was varied and delicious and the red Italian wine was perfect. Highly recommended.

Chalet and Staff both top drawer, perfect

This is our third Inghams holiday and by far this was the best accomodation we've stayed in. The chalet itself is full of character, and our room at the top of the stairs was just perfect, including views over the surrounding mountains and villages. The staff added to our holiday being extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Think Val does a fantastic job managing this chalet
