We had to cancel our booking at the very last minute after storms have prevented our plane leaving the UK on time.
These guys went the extra mile in helping us and were charm personified! Even though we didn't end up staying there we did make it for a meal and it was brilliant. By all accounts the rooms are fabulous
We're heading back next year and will definitely be staying here.
Hotel with a bit of character.

We stayed here as part of a 3 centre holiday and, after landing on a nearby island and being driven under the sea twice, by way of the tunnel system in Alesund, I wondered what the hotel would be like! Not disappointed! From the outside it looks much like any other hotel but once inside, prepare to be surprised. Loved the layout, the exposed beams and the open central area where you walk out onto the floor and look down on the reception area and up to the floors above.Small hotel, which used to be Hotel Bryggen but has now become part of the next door hotel, Brosundet. Rooms were quaint and we were happy enough about the room, apart from the lack of shelves/drawers tp put our clothes on/in. Our one small gripe. Staff were lovely. Rooms were clean. Excellent location, right on the harbour with lovely views from the breakfast room(due to a mix-up we only had breakfast which was sufficient). Alesund is a lovely town. Lots of character and interesting things to visit and see.
Lovely hotel in stunning town

Our family of three stayed at the Brosundet for two nights as part of a month-long trip across Scandinavia. We had a “family room” which included a king bed, a separate twin bed for our son, and a sofa (so, not a pull out sofa bed, an actual separate bed and separate sofa – nice!). We loved the cool beam in the room and our favorite feature was the heated floors in the bathroom.
There is not onsite parking but there is a public garage right next to the hotel. The cost was about 150NOK per 24 hours.
One of the reasons I’d chosen this property was due to the included afternoon snack and dinner. Unfortunately, we arrived at 8:30 PM and they’d stopped serving dinner at 8:00 PM, so we missed it the first night. There is a restaurant (Anno?) right down the street, but it was a shame to have missed the dinner that we’d already sort-of paid for as part of our room fee. I should have thought to ask in advance what time they stop serving so we could plan to be there in time. The next night, we did enjoy the dinner, which was a beef stew and salad. The afternoon snack that day was cake. Breakfast was nice with both scrambled and fried eggs, several meat and cheese options, yogurt, cereal, and bread. All meals are served in a stunning room that has original beams and looks out on the canal (“brosundet”) and the Mt Aksla viewpoint.
The hotel is in a good location, right on the water and it’s fun that you can so easily spot it when you are up at the top of Mt Aksla. Just know that most of the shops, and access to Mt Aksla, are on the other side of the water from the hotel.
This was a lovely stay and we are glad that we factored Alesund into our Norwegian adventure!
Cozy, luxourious feeling

A very nice hotel located in the centre of the city. A short walk to everything. The hotel has kept old parts of the building and combined them with new, which makes for a luxurious feeling. The room was spacious enough, but not big. Refrigerator with bottled water included, plus tea and coffee. The bathroom was nice, and big enough.
Good service, they brought stuff to our room which we needed - a flatiron for example.
The breakfast buffet was very good, they had everything you needed except cappuccino/latte/macchiato. There was only black coffee. Other than that, the buffet was very good!
Would recommend this hotel.
A Puzzlement?

Hotel Brosundet is a weird place, but is perfectly situated! The interior designers got their way, but with no concept of comfort or practicality. It is two buildings. We were in he smaller building had very small, very strange rooms, even though they were "Jr. Suites". Ours (#402) had a closet about one foot wide with 4 hangers, no shelving or dressers, no place for toiletries in the bathroom, two chairs you could not sit in, and some very oddly arranged beams with bolts and wires hanging from the ceiling (high design?) But #402 had a great view of the harbor. The other building had been remodeled more recently and perhaps less "designy". The hotel did have a nice feature in that a casual dinner was available free of charge to guests, nightly. It was chili, cold cuts, cheese and bread, but it suited us fine one evening. Don't waste your money, or time on Maki.
