We stayed 3 nights at Hotel Buena Vista prior to our flight home to the UK after 70 days touring Central Amercia. It is located about 5 miles from the airport and a shuttle was included in the room rate and we were transported to and from the airport with ease. Being some 4000 metres high the climate was cool with less humidity and we enjoyed our stay. Our room (25) was a twin Queen with a small balcony which gave us a fantastic "vista" of the valley and San Jose. The restaurant had a varied menu, and the meals were of a good quality and freshly made, there was also a small bar area.
There was a small swimming pool which was at a ‘refreshing’ temperature whilst we visited, although we were visiting in the rainy season! We were blessed with sunny dry days during our stay though. The wifi was usually very good but did depend on the number of guests’ devices being used.
There were several interesting tours available from the hotel but we were here just to chill before our return home so did not undertake any so cannot comment.
This is certainly a hotel we would return to and we would like to thank the owner, Ed for taking the trouble of chatting to us several times during our stay and all of his wonderful staff who were always courteous and helpful and a great asset to the hotel.

This was our first stop in a 2 week four hotel tour of Cost Rica. I wanted something quiet, near to San Jose Airport and a good base to recover from the flight from the Uk on day one and explore either San Jose or La Paz Waterfall Gardens on Day two before heading off to Tortuguero.
This hotel as with all the hotels I stayed in was relatively expensive by UK and Latin America standards but given the Costa Rican desire for carbon neutrality and environmental protection I am happy to pay more to help secure the nations goals.
The hotel staff were friendly, it was quite but so were all the hotels as it was the end of the low season and the start of the high but again that was exactly what I wanted. We had a car to get around which you would need, however we had a lovely meal at the Mirimar restaurant just down the road and an easy if very dark 10 minute walk away.

The hotel has a really beautiful view of the city. It is especially mesmerizing at night. I stayed here just prior to leaving for returning home. There is a gas station about 3km down the hill on the left hand side for refilling your rental car, and it is about 8km to the airport (and a very easy drive to get there in about 15-20 min. The hotel has their own coffee growing operation on site, and does have a pool and restaurant. Wifi was good throughout and the hotel was very clean. I felt like the hotel would cater more towards an older clientele. Of note, the volcano Poas park is closed and has been closed for several months. I asked the front desk if they knew of other options of things to do nearby in the afternoon. They mentioned a coffee tour, but weren't able to offer any other suggestions, which was a little disappointing.

Stayed at Buena Vista at the beginning and end of our vacation in Costa Rica. Incredible staff, great service and very comfortable accommodations. We had one of the villas with a balcony overlooking the mountains and San Jose at a distance. You’re guaranteed breathtaking views. We’ll definitely stay here next time we’re in CR!

We ended up at the hotel because of Hurricane Nate. They took such good care of us. The hotel is a beautiful place. The rooms are nice and we'll appointed. The hotel overlooks the mountains. If I were to go back, I would stay here again. Andres was incredible along with the rest of the staff. There are a few restaurants within walking distance given the lack of streetlights I would suggest renting a car at this location rather than walking.
