What People are saying

Old and run down hotel.

Fab221 on 14/04/2017 13:25

Booked the Hotel Chaco for a 3 night business trip with a colleague, the hotel looked just fine by the photographs, well, it does not look like that. The worst part are the rooms, they old an tired. The staff is attentive and helpful, this makes the stay a bit better. The complimentary breakfast is a joke, not even worth a review.

Very good hotel, but in a rundown nighborhood

Very good hotel, but in a rundown nighborhood. It's very clean, very good beds, acceptable minibar, little but nice pool at top floor. very good breakfast, a nive stay for reasonable price. we didn't try the restaurent

Dated, but lots of positives

I lived at the Hotel Chaco for 3 weeks. Although the hotel's decor is dated, it has many aspects that make it a great place to stay. The staff are great and even put up with my terrible Spanish. They went out of their way to make sure I had a great stay and were always willing to help me with any request. The breakfast is sufficient and the waiters are awesome. The hotel's location is perfect. There is a supermarket 2 blocks away, a convenience store 2 blocks away, and it is right near the shops and restaurants of downtown. The pool is nice and the view of the city from the roof-top pool is great for photos. I would happily stay there again.

Okay stay

The cockroach in the bathroom the first night gave me an immediate bad taste of Hotel Chaco that. Just one, but it totally freaked me out.

As the other reviews noted, yes, the rooms are horribly dated--like a bad episode of House Hunters. But that didn't bother me too much--actually, it was kind cool (I think they call it "Vintage?")

Bed was okay--but thin mattress on boards (no box spring) and NO mattress cover--just a sheet on a bare mattress. That kind of concerned me.

View was cool, and loved the little balcony we had, overlooking the city. The location was very good! Staff was okay. Oh, we got stuck in the elevator--that was kind of scary! No phone or even alarm in the elevator (yikes!) Luckily, my iPhone had international calling and I was able to dial the hotel and ask for rescue.

All in all, an okay stay--the building was very neat (it's old charm). Make sure you make your way up to the rooftop pool for a very cool view of the city. But if I had to do it again, I'd probably spend a couple extra bucks and stay at the Sheraton.

Dated, but nice and correct people.

I spent many nights in the Chaco during my first time in Paraguay last year, and came back here for the second time. The rooms are very dated; I stayed in a better room last year. This time, they gave me a (very) noisy and crumbling single bed. It's a throwback in the 70'. Restaurant is nothing special, but the people are very nice and service is perfect. You can go for a late night drink. I don't know how many men work here at the reception (10?), but they are all ready to help, polite, and try their best with my bad spanish. The location is ideal. Don't trust the pictures on the website, it looks 10X better than reality. But it's clean, even if the olive green carpet has known better days. I had no internet in my room. (connexion didn't arrive - 4th floor) and had to go to the lobby to send my emails. Forget the pool, not sure they change the water or it's really clean... even if I went several times to cool down because of the heat.
