Worst experience ever

Deidra C on 21/03/2017 23:27

My son and I checked in later in the evening. When given our hotel room key we had to go up 3 flights of stairs to our room. Exhausted I opened the door to find the room hot smelly and water all over the tile floor. I immediately went down to the hotel's front desk and the woman working did not apologize for the state the room was in but handed me another hotel room key and said try this one.
When I opened up the next room it was in shambles! It was clearly under construction and not a room to be sending guests to. I went back downstairs to tell the front desk lady that the room was in shambles and as it was late and I was exhausted and my son was freaked out could she please figure out which room to put us in . She gave me the keys to another room on the same floor which was clean free from smell and free from water on the floor. This room faced the road and had 2 queen beds and was larger than the last. I was relieved that the front desk lady had given me an upgraded room for the inconveniences . There was a safe in this room but the air conditioning did not work.
The next morning I went to the lobby to ask them to tell me the code to the room safe as well as to ask them to see to the air conditioning . The front desk man did not speak much English and basically told me that they were moving us Again! I said that was not possible, I was completely unpacked and I was given an upgraded room by the night desk lady because of all the inconvenience. He stated that I was not entitled to the room since I paid for a standard room. He refused to give me access to the room safe and told me that room did not have working air conditioning. The owner, who did not introduce herself came over and they begun talking about what was going on. Then she said I had to move. At this point it was very difficult to believe how they were treating me , as if as a guest I was the one at fault. The owner had no concern that my son has anxiety and moving rooms again would be very difficult. They said that I had to get out of the room because it was already booked. I told them that that was not my problem, that I was not interested in moving rooms and asked them to please consider that their actions were not friendly or good customer service. The owner had a smile on her face and began to tell me that the new room was a good deal for me but that she was loosing money. I told the owner that her smiling at my discomfort was not acceptable. I told her as a single mum 8 had saved for over 2 years to take my son on vacation. The owner then said I would have to pay for the price of the room. I told the owner I did not have any money left over in my vacation budget for an added expense. Basically I was faced with moving to another room or leaving the hotel. It was all too much for me and as the tears began to fall from my eyes the owner then asked me how much I had paid for the room on the booking site. I told her 278.59 for 7 nights. She grabbed a calculator and then told me fine I could have the room for 20% more. I had to pay on my credit card which took away one of the activities I wanted to do with my son.
I asked for a written receipt stating I would not be charged more and was given one.
The taxi station is right across the street and they begin arriving at 5 am and are honking and shouting and talking loudly.
The hotel did nothing about people staying up to the morning hours partying and drinking on the roof. The beds were very old and uncomfortable as well.
I was robbed of money at the Ultra Mar ferry and since my son was so anxious by the 3rd day and afraid , Having the money taken was the last straw. I asked to use the hotel phone to call the airline to try to rebook a flight to get home.
I am not a wallflower or a damsel in distress type, I am a strong capable and educated woman but after all that had happened and the tension at the hotel my flood gates burst. There were 4 hotel employees standing around laughing and not one of them showed any empathy or asked if they could assist. Being robbed was awful but being around people who just did not care was worse. I found that no one at this hotel or really the area of Puerto Juarez Cancun were friendly. The women especially.
As it turned out we could not change our flights . We stayed and did not go out after 5 pm. I was scared as well as my son and instead of a Vacation it was a Jail.
Please for any families out there trying to save money and book at a less expensive hotel Do Not Use This Hotel.
I suspect that the Good Reviews for this hotel are from the hotel owners themselves. I was so scared here not a place to be as a single woman or to bring kids. My son is 6'1 185 lbs and 14 he is not scared of much but being at this place and at this hotel scared him immensely.
Good luck to you to book a nice place.

Perfect location - short walk to the ferry.

montanaaaaaa on 13/03/2017 21:43

Cannot be beat for an overnight stay.

The Oxxo is right across the way and the ferry terminal is short walk up the road.

If you looking for luxury, this isn't it. It's just a place to lay your head down. Don't be picky. It was clean and inexpensive.

Perfect for the price

Fabiana A on 27/02/2017 16:55
