We rang the hotel to book rather than going through Booking.com but this was definitely a mistake as the price we paid was much higher. We were told that our room was an executive room rather than a business room, which costs less. It was however small and the desk couldn't be used because the only hanging space was over the top of it. We can't therefore believe that the twin ‘executive’ room we were in was worth 45% more than the triple business room on Booking.com. We managed, against much reluctance, to negotiate a discount, but were told by more than one member of staff that we should have used Booking.com to get the best rate.
Having said that the hotel has an old world charm about it, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff friendly.

This is little and very cosy hotel at the opposite of railway station. In Strasbourg it is not easy to find a hotel for a reasonable price. I think Hôtel de Vosges was a little bit expensive if thinking about quality. But I can't really complain. My room on the third floor was spacious and nice with three windows! Service was really friendly and the young lady at the desk so nice. Le petit déjeuner was good and had enough to eat if compared to french breakfast as usual.

It all started quite terribly. Within 5 minutes of checking in, my friends and I decided to check out the breakfast area. As soon as I stepped into the room, a rat scurried across the floor and under a cabinet. As a result, we opted to not have breakfast at the hotel the next morning. Then, it was time to view our rooms. We were positioned on the 6th floor (thankfully there was a working elevator that took us up to the fifth floor). The hallways were terribly dark. Upon entering the room, we knew we were in for an adventure. The wallpaper was peeling off the walls from all of the previous roof leaks, the door barely opened due to the unbelievably dirty and smelly carpet, one chair was completely broken and we were unable to sit in it while the other chair had some unknown sticky substance covering it, and the bathroom was so musty, moldy, and dirty that we decided it would be better to go without a shower for the day. The entire place looked like it had not been dusted in a few years and had a generally dirty feel to it. Thank goodness that we only had to endure only one night. Finally, the reason I decided to write this review was that the parking was supposed to be in a "nearby" location for only 12 euros (a reduced price from the normal 20 euros per day). Our "reduced ticket" ended up costing us 28 euros... more than double what the cost was supposed to be! I went back to the front desk (about a 5 minute walk each way from the parking garage) on two different occasions to ask the desk clerk to rectify the situation. Finally, he admitted that he was not going to help me, pay for the tickets, or refund my money in any way, and I could write an email or call later in the day. (I will do this in a few hours since I literally just walked in from my trip.)
