I booked this room on airbnb. Within a short time of booking, the hotel told me that the room I requested was already booked, and suggested that I take a basic room instead (giving me a refund in the difference in price).
There was a great amount of confusion finding the hotel, since both ends of the road appeared to be closed (and had been since at least July 15, although the owner of the hotel, Carlo, made a reference to its very recent closing when we were there at the start of August). I wish that Carlo had clearly indicated blocked roads in our communication prior to arriving, since it would have reduced the stress greatly. Carlo made his best attempts by phone to help us find his place, although it still took 3 1/2 hours of driving back and forth over the mountain road. Upon arrival he offered us a cup of coffee for our troubles, which we didn't take. The walls of the hotels are paper thin. We could hear our neighbors talking clearly until midnight, sometimes just after. On the other side, a crying baby during the night... We could clearly hear the conversations on both sides. In the room, we were only able to recharge phones, computers, cameras with one outlet, since the others used an old 3-prong European plug which was a bit too small for the standard European plugs that we found in every other hotel on our trip. This meant that the tiny bathroom needed to be visited often -- to charge our things!! The breakfast was all right, although there were not many options besides bread and a few toppings, yogurt and pre-packaged croissants. The apples (all three of them) were covered with bruises, and didn't shift positions in the two days we ate breakfast there. The staff waited until all of the food on any dish was completely empty before refilling the trays of food, meaning that there were often empty spaces on the buffet table, both during breakfast or at dinner. Even once they removed a tray to refill it, it took about 10 minutes for new food to appear. There was nothing unique for breakfast, very simple fare. It was an expectation that we would order dinner during our breakfast. The menu for dinner was left at our table with a pen in order for us to mark what we wanted to eat. Although the food was very good, it was not very abundant. I was quite surprised when I checked out to see that the tap water I requested with my evening meal had been added to the total bill. As a restaurant owner, I would never think of charging my clients for tap water, especially when the village is peppered with fresh-water wells with mountain water! It seemed as though the family running the hotel wanted to profit from every opportunity possible.
The people working there were friendly, offering suggestions of hiking routes, etc. Surprisingly, no one (except one server in the dining room) ever made an attempt to speak to us in Italian (unfortunate because I speak basic Italian), but rather, the mother of the establishment chose to speak to me in French. Carlo's English is excellent.

Perfect place to stay in Dolomites, like at home!

Marina Fon 28/02/2016 16:27

I was really happy to find this fantastic place in magnificent Dolomites...
Rooms are always clean, warm and cozy. All the hotel staff is very friendly and welcome. Restaurant is something special, I have never eaten so delicious with perfect taste balance and various choice of good wines. Sauna was always ready to relax me after walking or skiing. I'm recommending this place for everyone - friends stay, family vacation or individual journey. I will definitely come there again.

Hospitality as it was meant to be

We had a one night stay in this idyllic hotel. They know what a traveller needs; you're welcome from the start and all your requests are fulfilled. The restaurant is very good, our room was adquated and the familyroom is even more spacious. Very recommendable!
