More than a hotel, these are adjoining rooms to a commercial and parking place. The location is very good, close to the main square, and not where indicated by the map on Tripadvisor. Housekeeping is acceptable. They do not serve breakfast. The staff was friendly and I was honestly advised. Since lodging prices are expensive in La Fortuna, I consider that you get what you pay for.

This hotel was cheap. Don't plan on staying in it for very long. The bathrooms were dirty, sink was clogged, air conditioner barely worked, smelled nasty, puddles of water on the floor, white bugs crawling on me all night. The plus side is that the owner was really nice to us and it was safe. If somebody just put a little effort into it then this place could turn around.

Hotel El Volcan is about 2 blocks off the town square, convenient to dining and shopping. The property is clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the staff is helpful. The only complaint I have is that the room wasn't dark enough, between the sheer curtains and the light directly outside the window. The common area, with complimentary coffee, is a nice touch.

At $50ish dollars a night it was worth it. The location was absolutely perfect, 5min walking from the heart of the town. The people who run the hotel were extremely friendly and were willing to answer all questions we had. The fact that they spoke english was a bonus. The rooms are basic and if you're picky about pillows and mattresses, then you might want to spend double the price on other accommodations. The washrooms werent great but we weren't there for the bathrooms. We would definitely go back.

I stayed one nigth, and the beds were fine but the filthy bathroom and smells very bad, full of cockroaches and dirthy everywhere and the wifi don´t work...
I do not recommend this hotel...... Never!...
