The Hotel Expo Centro is not a best western. It may have been at one time but it's no longer. It's located in the Fort Gulick and one of only a few buildings not devastated by time e.g. a Chernobyl like ruin. The hotel was - just weird. In room not so bad although the doors had been broken into many times and not safe. Maintenance non existent - counted many ceiling links. Central air not working or not turned on. Very hot. Came back from day out and window to room was open (not by me). Price is okay but this is not a place that you will feel safe in the midst of rubble and refuse. If you must go to Colon area, probably safer than staying in town. Otherwise - avoid. The staff was nice but I couldn't figure out if there was any corporate backing for this hotel involved or they just showed up to take money from people cruising by. Pool had water in it although entire hotel was very dirty and not maintained. Don't be fooled by "garden view" and description on booking sites - you will be lucky to get a room with a door that shuts. Scary, scary but honestly - made it in and out safe and not sure if any place would have been better. Got password for WIFI but could never locate any.

My wife and I traveled to Zona Libre (Free Zone), Colon in Panama and found a Best Western Hotel. The Hotel was incredible and the rooms were nicer than most 4 star hotels in the US. Unbelievable rooms, clean large sized, nice staff very accommodating and friendly. The hotel had a beautiful pool with waterfalls, the lounge on the second floor had a pool table and miniature hockey table and great drinks. There were lots of wild life as well in the surrounding
forests. Additionally it took us 1 hour in the new expressway from Panama City.
