Family friendly hotel with lots of features for children
michael mon 25/03/2017 22:15The hotel Finnlandia is located in some very quiet woods, isolated from the main resort a distance of 2 km away. The food is decent quality, if unimaginative. The rooms and the entire hotel are extremely clean, and the public areas are well maintained.
This is a four-star hotel, which is let down badly by the general manager. The staff are very courteous, polite, friendly, In fact they almost behave like friends. However, the general manager often takes liberties with the hotel and staff, for example closing the restaurant on Saturday night for a private party of local pensioners who had come up in a bus for the weekend. Not that I dislike pensioners or locals, However closing my restaurant early for them was not acceptable. Also, the hotel was left down by the fact that it was booked out that week 80% of the guests were schoolchildren who were very noisy and not well supervised by their teachers. This was not the fault of the hotel management or staff., rather that the teachers didn't give a damn what their pupils dead or how noisy they were.
Overall the hotel is good value the facilities are pretty good too, and also you will get a goodly amount of decent food but it is not al a carte or haute cuisine.
One final note the wellness facility is absolutely excellent, there is a large very clean pool, sauna steam room Jacuzzi and the master is excellent. This has to be the hotels hidden gem, and excellent value a massage is less than 10 lev.
We would more than likely return to this hotel, but would avoid the school holidays!

wroughtinironon 13/03/2016 10:37We stayed at the Finlandia 21/28 02 16 and cannot thank the staff enough for their pleasant, helpfull and friendly demeanor. Having stayed in similar hotels in Bulgaria before, the Finlandia was a breath nof fresh air in comparison. Next time we visit hopefully the snow conditions will be better, but we still had a good holiday.

vladdadon 18/02/2016 20:57Nice , clean, good food, large rooms, not close to skiing, shuttle bus, good massage, bad sauna & jacuzzi, good place for families with small children. Internet only on reception desk- router working on reception desk!? Telephone lines breakdown!

The natural wood that the hotel is situated in is lovely.
The staff are very helpful and friendly.
Food is good, choose local dishes and you won't be disappointed.
Rooms are fine.
Leisure pool is ok. Massage ok.
Good bus service to ski lifts. On site ski shop. Wifi works ok in reception, not so well in room.
After two days the hotel virtually emptied and it felt strange.
You are a bit captive because the resort centre is about 30 mins walk away. Some restaurants close by have a car service.In addition to the hotel restaurant there are 2 or 3 good restaurants close by.
My major complaint is about the owner and his party who took over the restaurant for two nights in a row. Showed no regard for the few other guests who were there. They were noisy and smoked the room out. Making it very unpleasant. I suspect that the majority of guests this hotel serves are Bulgarian.
It was also disappointing that on our last evening they could not open the wine store!
There was a lack of information about which pistes were working, no web cam and information appeared difficult to obtain for some reason.
The hotel is ok and we enjoyed our stay nethertheless.
Good hotel, but there are better in the area
ChloeRoberts95on 22/02/2015 01:24I visited in January 2015, with my partner and was surprised at the location of the hotel. It was far away from the facilities, meaning we had to drive to the ski slopes which wasn't ideal. Although there is a bus( a very small minivan) which takes you to the slopes only twice a day, it is always too busy as it seats about 10 people max.
Room was lovely, very large and clean.
Breakfast was good, but very repetitive, same as dinner. Restaurant Staff very friendly.
For peak season the hotel was DEAD. There was really no atmosphere.
We arrived for our check in at 2, and we were told our room wasn't ready, and was kept waiting for 45 minutes.
There was meant to be free wifi in every room, however we could only ever pick it up in the lobby area, and it was still very temperamental.
Overall, average holiday. Would not return to this hotel as I think there are better in the area, which also have a better location.
