Reasonable hotel in good location

Have chosen this hotel due to location - proximity to most Venice main sites and was not wrong. Staff was friendly, hotel a bit old but it is very well situated and actually "around the corner" to main train station.
Plenty of cafe's and restaurants in walking distance!
Cannot sleep, alley is too loud!

The only good thing about this hotel is that it is right by the train station so it is really convenient. But, you will never be able to sleep because it is so loud and you can hear everything outside! I went down to talk to someone at the front desk if there's anything they can do about the noise and the old guy there just looked at me all confused as if I was crazy. Apparently there is no such thing as "quiet time" around here after a certain time.
The bathroom is also super tiny! We found ourselves walking almost sideways to get to the toilet from the shower etc. The shower is impossible to move in. And we are tiny people! If you're taller than 5'3" (my height) you will for sure hate the showers because you'd basically have to squat.
However, I can deal with the small bathroom I cannot deal with never being able to sleep for just 10 min when it's so loud right out our window!!! I am a light sleeper so it's super hard for me to sleep when there's tons of commotion going on right out our window. It's a common alleyway for tons of restaurants and people so all night we heard people laughing screaming and talking!!!!
This hotel is cheap. But take it from me and cough up a bit more money to get your rest!
I also want to add that the management will probably respond to this review saying "there's nothing we can do about it" and yes there is probably nothing they can do about it--which is why I'm writing a review to help other guests make their decision. After touring all day (and jet lag) you will be aching for some decent sleep. If you book a room here, you may want to ask if you can get a room that does NOT face towards the common alley where all the restaurants and people are. That might help but I am not 100% sure on that since I wasn't offered that option when I complained about the noise. Plus, I didn't stay long enough in Venice any way so we didn't have time.
Overnight stay

We arrived like around 1:00pm in the afternoon, i did not know that the room I’ve been booked has no private bathroom, but to my surprised the lady receptionist which i forgot to ask her name told us that she will transfer us to a room that has bathroom. And had to pay for city tax for 2€ which is not a big deal though. The photos of our designated room is included, for me it was good for since we stayed for one night. The breakfast is ok for us, a typical european breakfast. The place is near busses and trains. You can roam around the city which is near the Hotel.
Most Regretful Pick EVER with This BUZZ KILLER

I don't know why TripAdvisor doesn't provide a option of "Hell" for a more appropriate comment of this hotel.
Seriously guys, if you want to ruin your perfect trip plan by 60%, please stay with Hotel Florida.
And to the property manager:
If you can't swear like me that everything you say will be true and not disturb your moral level, please don't waste your time and drain your brain to pretend that you care your customer while defending yourself with all that you can think about. You have been very short staffed, as mentioned in one of your replies. So save your time for more customer please as I would not mind at all. And please spare the replies like the one suggesting a aged customer to choose a hotel carefully so she won't get heart attack (can this be even more evil?)
This comment is long, but it sure will help you to avoid this absolute buzz killer and a group of liars.
Pro(s): very close to station, max. 300m, good for people catching early trains with heavy luggages.
Cons: As listed below.
1. Price:
We paid 130 Euros for a double room. Definitely not pricy comparing to 4-5 stars. But definitely the worst choice you get within peer price, one of a kind. Details as below.
2. Staff:
Short smile and greeting is the only positive thing they provided. The manager alleged they have done a "free upgrade" room for us, which is a total lie and led the worst room I lived in since I wan born. Details per below.
3. Lift: NO!
Customers will need to carry their own luggages to level 1 & 2 through the narrow, steep and dim stairs. Think twice when you have people in special needs traveling with you. A photo attached.
4. Luggage Storage:
A lobby on level 1, unattended, no tags, no surveillance cameras. People with valuables better arrive after 2pm for a direct check in. A photo attached.
5. Room:
Here comes the drama. We booked a standardized double room with external bathroom (oops sorry I missed the bathroom part as I never saw a non-backpacker hotel with external bathroom!) Got totally shocked with this 7-8 sqm max. bedroom with path for slim people only, dirty bathroom with moulded shower blinds and toilet paper holder (see attached photos), and 120cm wide "double bed" which felt like a seesaw (see attached photos). Dear manager, is this the result of your effort of putting more importance to room cleaness? The booking.com confirmation confirmed a double bed between 130-150 cm. When we complained about the bed size was not suitable for 2 people, the manager seemed to be very proud and confident by telling me the descriptions was booking's fault not theirs. And they have done me a free upgrade to let me enjoy the INTERNAL BATHROOM. Enjoy the bathroom at the cost of a smaller bed and a shabby room? Who told you to upgrade this and who agreed with the upgrade? Mr. manager are you sure you are talking to the right customer? They refused to change another room for us, and they refused my request of cancellation. We didn't sleep well at all as it is even hard to turn our bodies.
The noise was ok, that's not too say the sound proof was nice, but the tenants were all nice and didn't make noise at night.
The bathroom had very slippery ceramics and my wife fell down even with slippers. Guys please be careful!
For towels, the hotel will replace them every 3 nights, and charge 7 Euro pp for any extra change. I leave this to you for your thought.
Air-con remotes were forfeited by the staff, due to the government regulation about the energy saving. I am ok with it, but can you please simply delete the air conditioning or put some notes on the booking websites to stop misleading customers? Do I pay to see a air con model???
6. Breakfast:
If the old rooms and facilities are issues of an aged Venetian property, the breakfast offer of this hotel is a perfect reflection of their attitude. Croissants, small bread, pre-packed dry toast, butter, jams, milk, coffee, juice, corn flakes and apples are all you can choice from, nothing else. If this is really nice, as mentioned by some comments, sorry guys I am having a god-like breakfast every morning in other hotels that will make you jealous for a long time.
That's about it. I do not want to be mean, but this Hotel Florida made me. Again, guys, if you really think these are piece of cakes for you, then enjoy your stays and have a nice trip :)
Basic hotel for easy access and great coffee!
Punam S on 30/09/2017 09:01
The advantages of staying here is next to Venice St Lucia station, next to Vaporatte stop Ferrovia, even a mall outside the train station and many restaurants outside. And the best was the coffee and basic and sufficient breakfast options- crossaint, bread, oat, muesli and yogurt. Hot water in bathroom was available anytime. The people at desk are very helpful.
Disadvantages- the look of the building inside is very old and dirty carpets. The room and private bathroom were quiet small and need to adjust walking around. After shower, the steam gets blocked and some floors get waterly a bit.
But with the prices in Venice for staying, this hotel is very good to pick for a 1-2 days.
