Very central nice hotel indifferent staff

Hotel was very nice with a good breakfast. The staff at breakfast are rude, bellman very nice and reception staff are hit and miss (some nice some not) -- location is great and rooms are nice. However just a warning when you get off the train a guy who says he is with the hotel will try and take you bag and tells you to take a taxi. Say no they charge 9 Europa a bag to take them up and if you take a taxi (20 euros) you can take you bags for free. KEEP YOUR BAGS AND RAKE THEM YOURSELF. Also don't take a taxi -- take the rail car, it drops you off closer to the hotel than the taxi will and it's a fraction of the cost and you can take your bags. When you get off the ferry landing go left and you will see it, you have to go past all the taxis so just walk past with your luggage and get on the cable car up the mountain and ten minutes later you are very close to the hotel -- just walk through the plaza and down the hill and the hotel is on your right about 75 yards. You have to look for it, its on the right and you go down a hallway into a spa hair dressing place and go right up the stairs to the hotel. Overall good hotel good breakfast, indifferent staff most of whom seem to think your lucky they are there to help you, but worth the stay!
Great location

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights & it is well located. It is within walking distance to the cable car, buses & taxis. The Hotel is clean & comfortable but the rooms are very small & abit on the dated side. The staff are friendly & helpful. Breakfast is provided & is your typical Italian fare but is fresh & nicely presented.
Look no further!

I booked this place having never been to Capri before. I saw it was close to the center on the map and went for it as there were limited options. I couldn't have picked a better place as its literally a minute from the main square where all the action is. The staff were very nice and friendly from the moment I walked in and accommodating to get me in my room early. I found the hotel very charming and styled appropriately for the location. Its the perfect base for your Capri adventure, 1 min from square, 2 mins from funicular or bus and the breakfast spread was very impressive compared to what I was expecting. Nothing seemed to be a problem and staff always gave me great information/advice from transport process to local activities.
It was also one of the most competitive in price so all in all the perfect place to meet me needs. Will always go back!
The staff just ruins your holiday

At the beginning of our holiday our primarily goal was to find very central hotel. This was the closest one to Grand Hotel Capri so we thought - spot on!!!
Well terrible choice!! The hotel is so old, looks worst in reality. The beds are exceptionally small, I've never felt that claustrophobic, I literally constantly feared I will fall off the bed (so did my sister when we spoke in the morning).
Secondly, the staff is outrageously rude!! Like so so so abrupt!! At end you feel like they are paying you to stay here not the other way around. Not helpful at all-you ask them to assist you with dinner reservations and they straight away answer - it's fully booked - obviously it wasn't as we went to the same restaurant that night and they found us a table in 10min. They really make you feel unwelcome!
I wouldn't recommend this hotel and I will not stay here again! It's a NO!!!
Great location, awful staff and old hotel

The location is perfect, you are right in the middle of Capri and close to everything, which is basically the only good thing I can say. The hotel itself is really old -but clean; nonetheless- the breakfast has really limited options. Our room was spacious but had a really small shower, which made it really hard to even get in (if you are claustrophobic you won´t be able to get in there), the bed and pillows were really stiff and our TV didn´t work properly.
The biggest problem here is the owner. Before we arrived, our travel agent made a reservation for us to take a boat tour of the island, sadly, once we arrived in Capri, my mom (62) wasn´t feeling so good because of some sort of stomach bug. As we arrived we told the guy at the reception that we would like to cancel the boat tour (let me say that when my travel agent made said reservation, they didn´t gave us a single document, contract or anything, so it was really informal), we knew it was a sudden cancellation and had no problem paying some sort of compensation. This staff member told us there was no problem and that we should talk the next day to see how my mom was feeling and we had decided. That same day, after we came back from dinner, the owner –very rudely- asked us about the cancellation and got really worked up without even letting me explain or talk, he screamed at me to talk in Spanish and not in English, even though, this is my daily language (he was so mad, he didn´t even let me explain this). He then demanded that I paid 50 euros for the cancellation, again, we had no problem with this, what I didn´t appreciate was the tone, the rudeness and his aggressive attitude. I told him I didn´t appreciate his tone and gave him the money, just to stop the argument (even though there was no contract and nothing that said this). The next day, he started apologizing and trying to justify his actions and all of a sudden the cancellation wasn´t much of a problem, the other staff members had fixed it and they returned my 50 euros. So, at the end of the day, the whole problem was all his and his lack of sympathy, aggression and mean spirit. Because of this I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone and will NEVER stay here again, no one disserves to be treated like that. This was my personal experience but since then I have read other reviews here about the staff, as well as the owner´s responses to bad reviews, which prove that this was not a one time thing.
