The Granvia is actually part of Kyoto Station, so there is direct access to all local trains including trains from Kansai Airport and the Shinkansen bullet trains. There is a plethora of restaurants nearby including those in the shopping tower and underground shopping attached to the station....so if it is raining, you can spend have plenty to do without going outside. It's within walking distance of some Temples, the Aquarium, and a rail museum. There is also a Bic Camera and Yodobashi Camera within a few blocks for electronics overload. Do a little research and Kyoto station has subways to all parts of Kyoto. Visit the old imperial palace grounds. Wonderful Japanese gardens. Kyoto is interesting because it was largely spared of the worst damage in WWII. Granvia can be on the pricey side during high season, but it's well worth a look and sometimes very reasonable rates are available.

We stayed for 4 nights. Checkin was welcoming and easy process.
Our room was big and clean although bathroom was a little small. However the amenties were amazing and we were very impressed.
Our room was quite a walk from the lift as the hotel is designed on length and not height.
Location was great, to get around Kyoto right above the station however we did notice the train noise throughout our stay which we thought they would have better noise protection.
We would stay again and perhaps request a loser room to the lift and maybe a little higher.

Recently, my wife and I traveled to Kyoto via hi-speed rail for some sightseeing. The Hotel Granvia is located directly above the railway station, easily accessible without leaving the premises. We found the staff attentive and readily available. The concierge arranged a full-day escorted bus tour of Kyoto which we enjoyed very much. Pick-up and drop-off points were a short walk from our hotel. They offer several restaurant choices, of which we utilized their convenient 6:30AM breakfast before the start of our busy day. The rooms were clean and adequately appointed. We had an upper floor which had a little or no train noise associated with it. We took advantage of an early check-in as well as letting the hotel store our bags when we returned from our day tour, well after the standard check out time. Again without a hitch. I would recommend the Hotel Granvia Kyoto to anyone needing a hotel in the Kyoto area, especially if you are arriving or departing via rail or train.

Read it all below. We arrived from a very good Tokyo hotel with very small rooms. The first luxury was the short walk from the train to the lobby. The second was the normal size of the standard hotel room. We could hang everything up and spread out! The third was the Tempura restaurant on the 11th floor of the Cube for lunch. Delicious.
Kyoto is fabulous and access from this hotel with trains and buses is a breeze. Restaurants? Tick. Shopping? Tick. Transport? Tick. Friendly staff? Tick.
We did not have breakfast in the hotel but there are multiple options outside. We had breakfast in a basement Vie de France with delicious life shortening pastries and quiches each morning. And passable coffee.
It may have been the location of our room but we did not hear any trains. Beds wonderful and we slept very well.
The Y250 charge for in room coffee the only negative.
We will return.

It just took us a train ride from Kansai Airport to this hotel located at Kyoto station. It is so accessible to anywhere in Kyoto and Nara. With a Isetan level 10F and 11F of eateries, there are plenty of choice of foods just up and down an escalator outside this hotel. The room is clean and spacious.
