Excellent value in Paris in out-of-the-way area

That’s right, five stars for what looks like a little neighborhood hotel (although the three stars on the wall give a hint). My brother got a tiny room for under $100. I have reached a stage in life where I spent $150 and had a great room with a large bathroom and big shower. The window was located such that I could have it open with the curtains blocking the view, for privacy (for their benefit, not mine). Facing an inner courtyard, my room was quiet. I rarely heard any noise from the hall, stairs, or elevator.
When I first arrived the room stank from some kind of air freshener, that smells like those little cakes they put in urinals. Terrible. I kept the windows wide open, even during the cool night, and asked for no cleaning of the room the second day. It worked out okay. The room wasn’t very big but had the usual amenities like a small refrigerator and a safe.
The big surprise was in the morning. The building facing the street has a typical entrance and lobby. Then, a second sitting area is on the other side of the building, facing a courtyard, with greenhouse-like windows. It is light and bright and clean. A small bar offered coffee or mixed drinks. From there, a glass-enclosed hallway leads across the courtyard to the next building, where the breakfast buffet is held. It is plentiful, with a coffee machine that allows you to choose your poison. I got a latte and a hot chocolate, and then mixed them into a third cup to make a mocha. I then used the boil-your-own-eggs set up (they also had some already cooked) to make my six-minute just-perfect egg. There were pastries galore, a toaster, meats and cheeses, yogurts, cereals. But the best thing is the orange juice squeezing machine. Inside, you see the oranges fall from the hopper, get cut in half and the juice squeezed right into your waiting glass. It is self serve, so you can have as much as you want. That alone was worth the cost of breakfast (14 euros)
The others in the breakfast room were without exception well-dressed French-speaking people, clearly here for business. I presume in this neighborhood they must get tourists, but I had the feeling that I was being let in on a really well-kept secret. As an experienced traveler, I look for good value. Anyone can pay high prices and go to some five-star monstrosity. But here, I found a good deal. I’ll be back.
Nice and clean hotel

For an only 3stars hotel at an acceptable (but not very small!) price, it is providing unexpected good quality services: it is a very clean residence with nice breakfast, a hotel serviced by kind personnel and located in a quiet neighborhood, with good access to the public transportation network.
Few nice places to eat nearby, including a restaurant with real local cuisine.
Excellent Choice

Nicely decorated, renovated, very kind staff, excellent service and very clean. Close to restaurants, bars and metro station. Nearby there is a mini market opened till 01:00.
Only the fact that there is not private parking.

Really nice
Clean quiet with staff very friendly.
Room larger than I expected
Clearly it is newly renovated.
The WiFi could have worked better.
I could not connect both my tablet and mobile phone at the same time.
Long weekend in Paris

Hotelli Saint Charles:n sijainti Pariisin keskustan kaakkoisosassa ei ole lähellä kaupungin nähtävyyksiä, kuitenkin sieltä pääsee helposti metrolla kaikkialle. Place d'Italien metroasemalta on linjalla 6 pääsy Eiffelille ja Riemukaarelle. Linja 7 kattaa Notre-Damen ja Louvren palatsin.
Ranskalaiseen tapaan, huoneen seinät ja ikkunat eivät eristä ääniä. Kadun äänet kuuluvat sisälle. Hotellin sijainti on melko rauhallisella kadulla, joten äänet eivät häirinneet yöunta. Huone oli siisti. Käytön jäljet näkyvät.
Lähistöllä on kaksikin hyvää leipomoa Rue de la Butte aux Cailles:lla. Toista, Maison Legendre, voin suositella varauksetta.
Hotellin aamupalan hinta on 14€, jota pidän hieman kalliina tarjotaan nähden.
Hotel Saint Charles is located in the south-east of central Paris, not far from the city's attractions, yet with easy access to the metro every destination. From the Place d'Italie metro station there is access to Eiffel and Arc de Triomphe on line 6. Line 7 covers Notre-Dame and Louvre Palace.
In French fashion, the walls and the windows of the room do not separate the sounds. The voices of the street are inside. The location of the hotel is quite in a quiet street so the sounds did not disturb the night time. The room was neat. Usage traces are displayed.
Nearby there are two good bakers on Rue de la Butte aux Cailles. Bakery, Maison Legendre, I can recommend it without reservation.
The price of the hotel's breakfast is € 14, which I find somewhat expensive as compared to the selection.
