Our agent booked six double rooms for us in this hotel for two nights. We started from Sonmarg hotel at 11am but due to previous night's terrorist attack on the bus comprising Amarnath Yatris near Anantnag J&K police stopped every cars going out of Sonmarg allowing only those having same day flight ticket. After waiting for almost three hours we somehow managed to exit and reached Gulmarg at around 7pm in the evening. The hotel located just at the entance of Gulmarg, you can say the first hotel anyone can come across. We got into six rooms, two out those those having road ride view and rest all had beautiful view of valley. Overall look of the hotel is very old and poorly maintained, carpets are almost faded, wooded room partitions and ceiling are bent. One of the rooms probably having leaking toilet outlet giving very bad smell even in the corridoor passage if the toilet door is open. Sizewise rooms were good and clean toilet. But toilet floor doesn't have a good labelling making the water floating on floor always.
From hotel the Gandola station is around a km distance by walk, on the other side there is a small market and restaurant complex. You can have also pony ride to have a complete round of the valley.
Apart from the location, the main other plus point of the restaurant is its food. In our package breakfast & dinner was included. At breakfast they served Alu Parotas and Bread toasts with butter. At dinner they served Rice, Roti, Dal, Mix veg and chicken. At lunch we found the items highly overpriced so ordered Veg Polao and Paneer butter masala. First day evening after reaching the hotel we immidiately ordered 12 coffees and 4 plates of onion pakoras which was billed Rs.1300 later. Although the food is costly we found all of them extremely tasty and good in quantity.
Keeping in mind the price of hotels in average at Gulmarg, it was a good budget stay there at nice location.
Good Food bur poorly maintained

We visited the restaurant for a late lunch on our way back from Gondola ride.
The restaurant's condition is not that good and not at all upto the standard of Kashmir.
However the service provided and Kashmiri food we had was good, but can't say it exceptional.
So, it is fine if one doesn't have any other choice.
Pathetic hotel

The hotel is located very conveniently. It is very close from Gondola gates as compared to other hotels. The view from the rooms are awesome. But that is true for almost all the hotels.
The rooms does not have enough lights and becomes scary at night. The rooms are fitted with CRT televisions and remotes does not work at all. There is nothing that you can do in Gulmarg at night and hence its must to have a good entertainment system.
I have not tried the restaurant. But never found more than 3-4 guests in the restaurants.
Personally I wont reccomend if you are travelling with family.
Gulmarg is the place where you HAVE TO BARGAIN A LOT......
2km From Gondola Ride - Budget Hotel

Hi,
We stayed overnight here...
Did not like the ambience of hotel, not a good interior, hygiene is not there in washrooms, plumbing & fittings in bathroom are damaged, its as good as a lodge....
Food was good for me....
Wifi was given on request to manager....
Only advantage is, its near to Gondola ride.... almost 1.5-2km walking distance from here till Gondola.....
Don't take Gum boots/Jacket from this Hotel on rent for any thing more than Rs.150/- in total.... you can always get all of it once you reach Phase-1/2...
excellent

it was a dream come true for us . a small himalayan stream running right besides our room . we all slept peacefully to it s sound . we could see the beautiful snow covered mountains from our dinner table . the food is served as a buffet so that you were spoilt for choices. the rooms were very spacious ( the biggest of all the hotels we ve stayed so far)
