Lovely hotel in central Merida

We stayed at the Hacienda VIP for 4 nights and were very happy with the our choice. The hotel is very central and only a few minutes walk from the Grand Plaza so ideal for sight seeing of the old town which has many lovely buildings. It is also very close to many good restaurants and bars. The staff were excellent and the breakfast lovely with a good choice of Mexican dishes plus the typical full english or continental style.
The hotel lobby and courtyard is very grand and has a wonderful ambience and the staff were always very attentive and helpful.
The room was a very good size and had all the amenities you would expect.
The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that we felt that although the hotel had a old style feel the room we had did feel like it needed some refreshing. Having said that we thought it was very good value and would stay here again.

You drive down the street and it looks like there's nothing there, but once you open the doors it's a beautiful open air oasis. All employees are genuine and friendly, rooms are AMAZING- huge high ceilings and beautiful finishings. Massive bathroom. AC worked wonderfully and WIFI as well. Very close to delicious vegetarian restaurant (Avocado) and has free parking in a lot a few doors down.
Quiet, peaceful, beautiful pool, and they were even generous to arrange a late checkout for us with very little notice.
Amazing!

Firstly, I did not book this hotel but the sister hotel Hacienda Merida however on arrival we were whisked away to the VIP hotel just two doors away...a lovely surprise upgrade!
The hotel is just 6 bedrooms and ours was very comfortable with a great big four poster bed and huge bathroom. All amenities were available including espresso machine, aircon, wifi, safe. The room looked out onto the small but perfectly formed pool and breakfast tables.
All this at such a great, late notice room rate and only minutes walk from the central plaza in the bustling Merida.
Breakfast (not included) was good and very reasonably priced.
Only sorry we were not staying more than 1 night as this was such a special place. Stay here if you get chance!
The finest hotel I have stayed at in decades

Aloha from Kauai, Hawaii,
My boyfriend and I were staying at a beautiful Air B and B in Tulum for 10 days and impulsively decided to wake up at 5 am one morning and go on a road trip. We chose to visit Merida which was a very pleasant 3 hour drive. Little traffic and easy driving.
We had no idea where to stay in Merida but did know that we wanted to be centrally located so we could wander and we wanted to stay in an old Colonial style hotel. I searched using the filter with the words luxury and romantic and best reviews and the Hotel Hacienda VIP came right up as number one.
We called Alex, who owns the hotel around 10 am and he graciously allowed us to check in early. As soon as we walked through the front door to the lobby area- our mouths dropped open in delight. We had in fact chosen the finest hotel possible and it was very reasonably priced and luxurious and romantic. The pool was remarkable and the staff were fantastic. We wandered around the streets close to the hotel for most of the day to see the churches and the square and returned to our wonderful room to lounge and swim.
We asked the super helpful man who's name I can't recall at the moment who works at the front desk if he could please arrange for us to have a private English speaking tour guide for 4-6 hours the following day who would drive our rental car and his name was Marco. Great guide. Perfect way to explore the region. We checked out of our room around 8:45 am, left out luggage with Alex and departed the hotel at 9 am missing the morning traffic. We drove all over the place with Marco and learned much more than had we done it on our own and we went up as far as Progresso. We really got a great look at Merida and the surrounding area. Beautiful.
I seriously cannot recommend the Hotel Hacienda VIP enough. We will definitely return each and every time we come to Mexico.
A welcome suprise

Having spent four weeks exploring Mexico were expecting to stay in "just another hotel".However this was a good quality boutique hotel which made us most welcome and offered us the best service we had come across on our trip. The quality of our room etc was excellent and all the advise and assistance given was most helpful.
