A nice hotel in downtown Aomori
PSOMak on 17/10/2017 08:07
Our group of eight stayed in this hotel for one night in October 2017. Our findings:
1. Overall very good
2. Value for money
3. Convenient location with plenty of restaurants nearby including the French restaurant in the hotel. Ten minutes walk from Aomori station.
4. Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Bed and pillow are comfortable
5. Staff service is very good. Receptionists speak good English.
We strongly recommend this hotel to other travellers.
A cookie cutter Japanese hotel with a French restaurant
Dalip C on 12/10/2017 15:38
Most Japanese hotels are a standard cookie cutter vertical box with windows and nothing architectural to look at. They are purpose built for functionality, and to be a stay of residence for the average Japanese tourist on the road. JAL City Aomori fits the bill (10mins walk from the JR station). The room is nothing flash and comes with standard amenities. Not something you'd want to lounge around in becoz claustrophobia soon sets in, given the smallish size. And if you're a gaijin, there's only one non-Japanese TV channel for you; it's the BBC News (sigh). Front Desk is helpful, but in a matter-of-fact sort of way. What did catch our attention over the 3nights stay, Iis the French restaurant on site : it seemed to attract non-resident guests for dinner; which speaks well for the hotel.
Excellent service, spacious room, amazing breakfast, great location

The room is extremely spacious in Japan standard. Breakfast buffet is very affordable and it offers many local delicacies using local ingredients. The choices are simply amazing. The hotel is relatively far away from the train station (about 5-10 min walk) but 80% of the walking can be completed on the main shopping street with cover. The service more than makes up to this deficiency. There are also many restaurants nearby. And the ASPAM Tower is just a traffic light away.
Home Coming

We timed our visit to coincide with my birthday 6th May because I was born some 50 years ago in Aomori. The hotel is clean and friendly and good functional business standard rather than luxury. Location is just off the main shopping street in the heart of the old town with easy access to the train station and old harbour area. I would describe the hotel as comfortable and competitively priced which is what we needed as we took 2 rooms, (one for the kids). We had a great view over the harbour and memorial Hakodate ferry!
Lack of essential facilities
Thao H on 25/07/2017 07:35
This hotel is not good for casual/family travel. They do not have essential facilities that we always need.
There is no self service laundry that you can easily find in every hotels in Japan. We had to take our clothes to Sunroute hotel nearby to wash and dry.
They do not send our luggage. We have been in so many big and small hotel in Japan, this is the first one say NO, we had to find Yamato to forward our luggage to next destination.
Will never come back
