Very neat and clean rooms, comfortable, central area, everything nice. Plenty of restaurants for food. Kapileshwara temple and lot more. Hotel staff also do speak & understand Hindi language, which is difficult to find even in city like Chennai.
Good reception, Positive attitude!

Reserved a Non AC room for 3 pax in Dec, 2016. Although Check in time was 12 noon, they didn't say anything of an early check in at 11 am. Spacious room. Even 4 to 5 pax can easily stay in their Non AC double room. Washrooms are well maintained except that all the items are antique. Good Room service at reasonable rates.
Vegetarian hotel is available near Ground Floor having fairly good service and rate.
This is just located in the southern side of Thoppakulam of Kapaleeswaran temple.
Nasty experience

The rooms are old with no proper maintenance. The receptionist are rude. Their goal is only billing without concern for customers. They change the words as person in the reception changes. There is good veg restaurant(Sangeeta) nearby, but hotel's restaurant is ....... Not worth for the rupee u spend.
fantastic position

I was rather worried arriving in Chennai as the city was only recovering from a terrible monsoon..240 deaths, thousands left without homes...sewage and drinking water damaged.
This 38 year old budget hotel is mainly used by Indian pilgrims very polite and happy to help an elderly woman travelling alone. I felt very safe.
My room was on the first floor - no lift - had help with my luggage - the room was very big and basic - pink walls, freshly painted , a huge double bed with clean sheets.
The bathroom was in a bad state...old and needed painting badly...but clean-
Free wifi - no breakfast. Next door there was a vegetarian restaurant. I chose this hotel for the position - right in front of the famous Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple Tank.
The road was crowded, lots of shops and stalls filled with fresh fruit and vegetables.
This was the true India I loved.
I booked this hotel through Cleartrip and was satisfied.
