Family holiday with teenagers - active, relax, gourmet, wellness, attention to detail
MammaKLAon 25/07/2017 19:09My family of 4 had 2 adjoining Superior rooms with balconies - rooms large, beautiful, light and airy. Cleanliness top. Walk-in shower fantastic.
Castelrotto/Kastelruth is a charming little town with easy access to the beauty of the Suisi Alps (Dolomites): after very active days hiking and biking it was a pleasure to relax in the hotel's sauna, pool and relax area, which really are well organised clean and inviting.
The hotel has various comfortable lounge areas to sit in, both before and after the delicious 4-course dinner every day. A talented and imaginative chef, with some themed evenings. Breakfast was also fantastic every day, with lots of healthy options.
Barbara and her staff are all very friendly, efficient and welcoming and the hotel is very well presented and cared for. Definitely a hotel I would recommend to anyone.
Thank you for a lovely stay.
Fantastic place
ZornitzaIankovaon 08/02/2017 13:31This is our second stay in Villa Kastelruth. We have spent a week in January 2016 and now returning back in mid January 2017. This is one of my favorite places to stay. The hotel is recently renovated, and has a great vibe. Everything is just perfect - food, service, facilities, rooms, spa. The food is great, from breakfast, to afternoon tea, and 4 course menu for dinner. Plenty of choice, healthy food, excellent quality. This is accompanied by great wine choices and kids menus. The spa center is spotless clean, the hotel has a great pool, sauna and relax area. Great place to stay, cannot recommend it enough and would love to come back :-)
Excellent!!

Just beyond expectations
johan_christelon 04/08/2016 14:34First of all, congratulations to Barbara and her team, the chef, the waiting staff with Renata, Darco, Michelle and Magdalena, the housekeeping staff with Rosie. You all did an outstanding and terrific job. Knowing the hotel since a long time, the changes, improvements and refurbishments have uplifted this hotel to "the place to be" in Kastelruth. Barbara is an outstanding hotel manager, she spends time with guests, talking and socializing. You are a first-class "Wirtin". She leads and motivates the staff. It was a wonderful 2 weeks.
The swimming pool is of outstanding quality, the new sauna and relax area makes it comfortable to relax, chill and recover from our long mountain hikes and via ferratas. Renata and Darco are very attentive to offer you drinks, always with a nice chat and a good laugh. You two are just super. A special word of thanks for the chef and kitchen staff: they do a superb job in preparing top class food for dinner.
The afternoon tea, sometimes cakes and donuts, but always fruit is great add-on.
The new rooms on the top floor are beautiful and very cosy. The bathroom with walk-in shower is top. It was very warm to sleep so a sealing fan would help to cool down the room. Sleeping with the terrace door wide open brings relief. Also it is very nice to have a fridge in the room.
One advice only to you, all dear readers: go there and enjoy your stay. Cannot recommend the wonderful hotel with its great staff enough and you won't regret. Ciao Barbara, alla prossima, bis zum nächsten Mal. Johan & Christel
Outstanding hotel for families
Dunnmanon 28/06/2016 18:39We are 5 months into a 9 month global trip with a 10 and 12 year old and have stayed in a LOT of hotels so far and this hotel is now probably my favourite. Classed as a 3 star, this is for us an under rating as the facilities here are outstanding. My understanding is that it is a very old hotel (1800s) that has had a recent makeover end of 2015 which explains the high standard and pristine look. We took a junior suite which is a large room (top floor with amazing views) which has sliding doors allowing the children to sleep while we could stay up. (kids are on a very comfortable pull out couch that gave two beds). The hotel boasts a huge swimming pool and spa in wonderful grounds that give fabulous views of the mountains. Inside it's huge relax area is a large sauna, small gym ( ample for 4 people to use at the same time but no more), and chill out zone over two levels. As this is a hotel for both winter and summer (we are visiting in summer). there is ample space to stay warm and dry inside. The staff are incredible. Attentive without being pushy and ready to help. All are bilingual (italian and german) and the wonderful manager and some of the waiting staff speak excellent English. The hotel is half board and the breakfast and 4 course dinner were amazing. They had healthy options even the kids who have been without vegetables for a few weeks due to pasta overload. To top this, there is an afternoon tea between 4-6. My only complaint about this hotel is that one must do a lot of walking to justify the amount of good food you will eat!
I guess a couple of other pointers. There is no air conditioning (however, it was 30 degree days and we didn't need it as the nights get cold). It is literally a 2 minute walk from the main square and yet we were not bothered by the church bells which ring every hour (during daylight..not sure about night). There is a children's playground next door (good for the under 10s).
