Perfect Location with very helpful friendly staff
Christine L on 29/10/2017 15:26
We stayed here for 3 nights in September 2017.
If you are looking for the perfect location in Cassino, this is it. The Owner, Pino, has built up a fantastic collection of books and memorabilia to feast on before you explore the Battlefields and War Graves. A wonderful experience. The warmth and hospitality by all the Staff is second to none.
Grateful thanks
Ron and Christine
Perfect in every way!

Although we only spent one evening during our stay, it was absolutely perfect, and I only wish I had allowed more time here while planning our itinerary in Italy.
A short walk, we arrived on foot from the train station. We were warmly greeted by a friend I knew and the gentleman at the desk who was friendly, and funny. All information needed during our stay was conveyed with kindness and professionalism. All staff were always helpful, and provided recommendations on requests we made. Our room was spotless and provided a picturesque view of the abbey from our window. Late in the evening we captured a fireworks display off in the distance from our window...what a treat!
Breakfast was huge and plentiful and was served on the main floor. Very nice variety! Did not walk away hungry.
The main lobby and sitting area provides numerous artifacts, memorabilia, books, and information on the history of Montecassino and area free to browse at your leisure. If you're looking for first hand knowledge and history on the Abbey and the battles of Montecassino, then this is where you need to stay!! I had the pleasure to meet with Pino (the owner), and spend some time with him and Lina during our short stay. I am overwhelmed with the connections we both new, and the HUGE amount of knowledge he has of history and it shows in the love he shares of this with everyone he meets.
Pino...your personal touch and kindness touched my heart dearly and I thank you so very much! I only wish I received your contact information to thank you properly. I know we will meet again someday! Until then, I wish you and your hotel much success in the years to come, and your continued knowledge in the history of our families neverending and bountiful! Grazie Mille
Nearby bell...

I was awakened by a loud nearby bell (5:15, 5:30...). Would you tolerate this with your neighbour? Not me. Do we have to tolerate it with a church. NO WAY at 5:15.
Rooms were clean (no hairdryer). Personnel / reception is fine.
Perfect hotel for the Cassino battlefield traveler
Michael H on 13/09/2017 20:16
The hotel owner, Pino Valente, is a Cassino battlefield enthusiast and his hotel reflects his passion. The ground floor it dotted with relics that Pino has picked up on his many hikes across Monte Cassino and the surrounding area. He will gladly recommend hikes/walks and other points of interest to those intrigued by Cassino's history.
Even if you do not have an interest in the Battle for Monte Cassino, the Hotel La Pace is an inviting and wonderful hotel near the heart of town with wonderful views of Monte Cassino and Castle Hill.
Not about the accommodations.. but about the history...In the shadow of the Abbey of Monte Cassino

This old gal won't rock your JW Marriott expectations.. but its clean, rooms are randomly spacious, bathrooms have plenty of hot water, and you cannot compare with the view of the Abbey and the history that this inn keeper will share if you give him a little help with his English.. Just a wonderful experience staying here.. two nights.. with a group of twenty on an Italian Campaign WWII tour.
Make sure you buy the wine... "Gustav Wine".. get it?
breakfast is just right... go next door for a really good pizza..
read the guest book of WWII Vets or their families who have passed this way.. from Poland, England, the US, Canada... and a few Germans.
No A/C but the mountains are fairly cool.. open a window.
I'll definitely return with another tour group!
