Vert disappointing return visit

We stayed as a family here 2 years ago, and so loved it that we returned this summer. Everything has changed! It was a quiet hotel with a lovely restaurant by the swimming pool, within easy reach of the beach. Now, there is loud music, either from a musician or from a CD player all the time, booming out across the swimming pool and into the restaurant. Our room (Superior) was adjacent to the reception area and we couldn't sleep until after midnight when the music stopped. The food was of a very poor quality. Most visitors are German from the ferry port. On the Saturday from midday to midnight there was a wedding, and the guests took over the hotel. Their music competed with the music from the bar. Like other visitors, we had a tiny bathroom to share between the four of us, and the shower was blocked, meaning it was difficult to wash without flooding the bathroom floor. The location of this hotel is amazing, so it is so disappointing that the owners do not seem to realise that many people go on holiday (including families) for a rest and peace and quiet. We've never written a TripAdvisor review before, but we wanted to warn others from making the same mistake.
Small Bathrooms

Visited this hotel with 2 Adults and 1 child booked into a triple room. Firstly the rooms are of an OK size, but the bathroom is tiny and so is the shower.
Note to families booking the "family rooms" they are near the main reception/bar area which plays loud live music until about midnight every night.
Swimming pool was good fun to use with younger children as an alternative to the beach, which is not good for younger children as it shelves quickly becoming deep.
The beds are firm and comfy and the air con works well keeping the room cold. There is a small fridge in the room.
The area the hotel is in is very small with little to nothing to do in the evenings. We did not try the restaurant as it was al la carte and wanted something simpler for our 7 year old, mostly pizza in other restaurants and not much else.
Overall, we were visiting for a wedding, but I would not have chosen this destination for a holiday.
If you need to check out early or during the night then pay your bill the night before (which we did) as the hotel was locked up and no-one on reception for us to return our room key to at 6.00am when we left for the airport.

Stayed at the La Torre Hotel in Bari Sardo for a week in the superior rooms facing the front. The hotel is well kept, clean and well managed. Gardens are lovely with lots of exotic flowers and well kept. Rooms were large and comfortable. Air conditioning worked wonders keeping rooms nice and cool on even the hottest days. Staff were courteous and helpful. The location was nice but very quiet with very little going on. Sea was wonderful, clean and fresh just the thing if you want a nice holiday by the sea. There are some great beaches nearby that are well worth a visit. The restaurant was OK but just OK. Food was mediocre and left a lot to be desired. Dishes did not match menu on more than one occasion and the waiters did little to compensate for that. We also found food to be expensive for what it was and were disappointed on more than one occasion. The restaurant also got very hot to the point of being uncomfortable. There was live entertainment most nights (keyboards and singing) with singers covering old 80s music which became a little annoying after 3 or 4 days. We found that the Bar/Restaurant beach shack just outside of the hotel did food that was as good if not better for half of the price and ate there most nights. It was also a better setting as it faced the beach. All in all nice but nothing to write home about and definitely not a four star but more like a three ...
Very nice laid back hotel

nice huge clean room, at the beach, nice pool.
Breakfast ok, nice staff. Only the dinner was better to eat outside, very average, while the beach offered great food, with seaview :-)
Keep in mind theres live music every evening until 23:30. It didn't bother us, it was not loud, but it was there.
Great Location, Tiny Rooms

Rather disappointed in Hotel la Torre, after hearing some good first-hand reports.
The positives are undoubtedly its location - straddling 2 lovely beaches separated by the ancient landmark Tower - and it offers a number of nice-to-have extras such as the swimming pool, tennis court & choice of restaurant facility.
However, these cannot fully overcome the disappointment associated with a tiny bedroom & en-suite bathroom, some of which (ours included) did not even have a window with a view, other than over the drying rail on the internal courtyard balcony. The room was drab, perfunctory and not where you would want to spend any time at all.
It's a shame, because the food & service are good, there's a good beach bar & free sun loungers & umbrellas are provided for all hotel guests. Make sure you take suitable footwear for walking into the sea, however, as the rounded pebbles and sharply-shelving beach can make for a bit of discomfort underfoot...
Overall, it felt like the facilities and rooms needed a make-over for it to justify the 4-star rating it holds.
