We stayed one night, in a third floor room overlooking the square with a great view of the upper town. The room and bathroom were a bit stark, but functional. The square was quiet after midnight, but with the windows open an early night is only an option for a heavy sleeper! Breakfast was average, though the bread was better - i.e. more French! - than in most of the hotels we have stayed at in Tuscany. Very friendly and helpful reception staff.

Stayed one night as part of walking holiday. Staff very friendly and helpful. Had the least hard bed of our holiday which made a pleasant change. Location of hotel good, Easy walk to historic part of town.

Bit of an oddity, this one - the town itself doesn't have much atmosphere but the flipside of that is that it is potentially more representative of day-to-day life outside of the more touristy parts. The elevator up to the upper town was not operating so watch out for the very steep walk up and down. Very few people in upper town, which is nice enough but a bit dead. Obviously this has nothing to do with the hotel, but the hotel does tend to emphasise the strengths and weaknesses of the town as a whole: pleasant enough but there just seemed to be something "missing". Perfectly clean, comfortable and the pizzeria associated with it is very good indeed (there aren't that many places to eat) - stayed one night and probably exhausted all the town had to offer, really. Nice enough, just a bit underpowered. Staff friendly, though.

We stayed one night at La Vechia Cartiera and found it very comfortable. It was bith on the Via Francigena walk which we were doing and close to town centre. Great to be able to wander into town and look at the summer festival stalls in the evening.
The room had air conditioning and a small fridge - very handy. Dinner was provided by the pizzeria next door - 3 courses and a side dish from a good choice of dishes including dessert!! Breakfast in the hotel was a very good buffet.
Good wifi. Highly recommended.

We stayed one night bicycling through Tuscany. The hotel is located off the piazza, very convenient to many sights and restaurants. Long steep walk to the old city on the top of the hill, but spectacular views and the weather was perfect.
Highly recommend staying here
