Right now the hotel is under re-construction. Service is not complete or polite. 7 and 8 floor are under construction and since 7am you are going to be disturbed. I was on my room and a piece of wall fall into my head, administrator only give me a little “sorry". I don't feel safe in this place and is not very clean. Check if they finish all the installations or book for another hotel.

Small but decent new rooms, great breakfast.
Breakfast should be especially mentioned as it is very complete.
Their in house taxi driver is one person you would not like to use or meet.
Other than the taxi driver great stay.

A colleague made a reservation for an LGBT meeting. When the management realized it was a group of LGBT activists, the hotel canceled the reservation.
In other countries such a behavior would be worth a lawsuit, in Paraguay there is no antidiscrimination law. Avoid places that do not respect civil rights.

I arrived at around 3 am in the morning in Asuncion and my checkin time in the Ibis was around noon. As the Ibis was fully booked, I had the choice to sleep in the lobby - or look for an alternative for one night.
That´s how I´ve found the Le Pelican which is close to the Ibis and Sheraton.
A good decision:
The checkin was quick (no surprise at around 3.30 am).
The room was very clean, small and basic - and minimalistic.
No gimmicks - but all you need!
Surprisingly fast was the complimentary internet: 25Mbps - one of the fastest connections I have ever had!
A clean bathroom with shower - and complimentary toileteries.
The breakfast: excellent and free of charge.
A large variety of fresh fruits, breads, eggs, marmelade, juices, jogurt - incredible
The hotel also has 2 small pools - which I could not test due to the very bad weather and heavy rainfalls.
The Pelican offers a very basic, small - but very clean accomodation - and is from my point of view absolutely recommendable with an excellent price-performance ratio!
Pricewise, it´s aprox. 30-40% cheaper than the Ibis.
Unfortunately, I could not cancel my booking in the Ibis - so I stayed there for the other nights.

I have stayed for a weekend at le pelican and had a very good stay. rooms were new and good (both beds, furnitures and toiled). It is somewhat near paseo carmelitas (where the nightlife really is). Price was good!
