What People are saying

Great week with the guys!

AguAarnaon 18/03/2017 16:15

We were all guys - 6 people. The hotel is very nice. Mostly suitable for families with children, but the place worked perfectly for a company of young gentlemen.
We're heavy duty snowboarders and max out on the slopes, so we can especially enjoy a good sauna at the end of a day to relax our muscles. Think the pearl of the place is exactly the sauna - very nice and relaxing, great quality.
The staff was awesome with (as someone put it in their review) a large desire to serve. We faced zero problems, the breakfast was spot on, and most of all, no issues at all with the accommodation throughout the week.
Thanks, guys, for a cool week!

Super nice!

Great Hotel for our family and friends

We are so very happy with the Hotel Livigno. Small hotel with a large desire for service. From the time we checked in and were shown around to our check out we were always support by the small and friendly staff. They called restaurants, made recommendations and helped with directions.

Located less than 50 meters to a bus stop, ATM. Less than a 5:00 minute walk to the mountain. And easy walk into town for meals.

Breakfast was traditional European.

Rooms were comfortable and adequate for our needs. Very clean with daily cleaning service. Not sure why the Hotel a Livigno was rated 55 of 80?

Very happy and yes I would go back again.

Fabulous family friendly

We first came to livigno over ten years ago. We have since been back for a week long ski trip another 4 times. We have stayed at Hotel Livigno on all but one of our trips. We most recently stayed over Xmas 2012.

The hotel is a short walk from the pedestrianised part of town but still has plenty of shops around it and a supermarket and bottle shop directly across the street. There is a great ski hire shop just 50 m behind and a slightly longer walk than that to the brand new ski lift from which you can access get access across to the other major gondolas and carousel lifts.

We have always travelled and stayed with friends and family with our kids and heaps of other kids. The rooms are simple but very comfortable and always clean. We love their super soft doona's. breakfast is a buffet which offers a good range of cereals breads cold ham and other meats with hot boiled eggs and generally some scrambled eggs and bacon. The best part is the fresh hot pastries. Yum. Fantastic way to start a great day on the slopes.

Dinner is always 3 courses with a choice of two or three dishes for each. The service is always prompt and friendly and they have a very good selection of wines and spirits and the moretti beer on tap is good also.

The restaurant is on level 1 and they have a separate bar /cafe downstairs on ground level. We have a large extended family and over the years as we have each started our families and they have grown we have stayed at hotel livigno. It has a very warm relaxed and safe feel. They have organised babysitters when we needed them to give time for skiing and other breaks when the kids were too young to ski. There is a games room where the kids can play (quiet) games and watch movies while the parents are only metres away enjoying a glass of wine.

Livigno itself is picture postcard stuff. We have been five times and always enjoyed good snow conditions and skiing. On the last trip the temps were probably a little warm with day time village temps just around zero degrees Celsius. With the sunny days this meant thaw and freeze conditions in the village. On the mountains it was always sub zero with nighttime minimums being about minus 8 or 10. On previous trips we have experienced minus 25 in the village at midday. Too cold to ski and too cold for little kids outside but that temp was just for a couple of days and rest of the week was perfect.

The town enjoys tax free status because ( I think) it historically was on trade route and the Italian parliament has allowed it to maintain this to promote tourism. This means that most things are noticeably cheaper than most other places. Particularly alcohol. When we first travelled to livigno back in 2003, we were buying 40 ounce ( 1150ml) bottles of johnnie walker red scotch for about $9 Australian. Recently in 2012 I think it has gone up to about $13 or $14 Australian but given we pay about $50 Australian at home, the discount is obvious.

There are plenty of big brand shopping outlets because of the tax free status so plenty for those that don't ski to do. There is a huge selection of restaurants and bars. It is great to try to learn and speak some Italian while there but pretty much everyone speaks enough English to make it very easy and comfortable to communicate.

The ski instructors are superb. There are excellent on snow play areas for kids from toddlers up. Kids can learn to ski from when they are 3 and the instructors are very good with the kids. In no time the kids can ski top to bottom and the parents can ski while they are in lessons then in the afternoon sit in sun chair on the snow at the bottom of the slopes and have beers brought to you while watching the kids ski.

We have skied at quite a few places around the world. Despite the 28 hours to fly to Milan and the four hour car trip (use livigno taxis they will meet you at malpensa airport and drop you door to door and they have vans for larger groups) the travel time is worth the effort.

Hotel livigno is family owned and operated and they are very obliging and friendly. We use jackie at mountain tours to book everything. She lives in town and will come meet with you when you arrive.

We are converts. If this note helps you to get to livigno I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
