Lovely little gem
Judith Gon 08/10/2015 16:54A lovely quirky little hotel. You have to remember that the hotel is two 1900's town houses joined together that have then had to comply with health and safety.
We had adjoining rooms on the third floor - I could even see the sea from my room which was a nice bonus. The shower room was great and a lovely powerful shower. It can be a bit noisy on Friday / Saturday evenings as the casino is right opposite, but if the noise worries you, ask for a room at the back.
There is a good choice of food for breakfast - the sugar bread was delicious especially.
Would stay there again if we go back to Blankenberge, just asking for the rooms at the back.
Not Impressed !!!!!
roy lon 15/07/2015 12:42The hotel is ok for a one night stop-over but no more, the rooms are very small and very dated, the pictures shown on the website don`t resemble the reality. It reminded me of a Blackpool boarding house from the 60`s.The doors are locked at 10:30pm and you are given a code for access. The towels left in our companions room looked they had been used to clean the car ! Do not accept a room at the front of the hotel if you want to sleep! The location is very good 100 metres from the beach, but 25 euros /night for parking the car, albeit secure is extortionate
Great location
Lorraine023on 30/12/2014 20:39Great location right in the centre of town a few mins from the beach and all Blankenberge has to offer - right over the road from the casino.
Hotel is dated but spotlessley clean - walls very thin and sound travelled. Very friendly helpful reception/owner in this family run hotel.
We stayed in winter and it was very warm and welcoming, but am sure it has a totally different feel in the summer - breakfast was excellent and the warm danish pastries were sublime.
We stayed in room 106 and our friends in 107, both of which were comfortable - however the beds were twins - pushed together but with separate bedding. We came back from dinner at around 10:30 and sat in the lounge with our friends - no staff were on and the bar was closed so we were unable to get any kind of drink (hot or cold) which would have made our evening better. Would definately stay here again and this was certainly good value for money.
Even cats choose it as their home ;)
MsSoffion 12/08/2013 11:28Formerly an old townhouse, thr Malecot may not be the most soundproof hotel in Blankenberge, but the rooms are clean and good value for money, the staff and owner are friendly and helpful, breakfast is good if not fancy...and Mary, the stray cat that has made the Malecot her home, gives the place a homely feel.
for one night
localclienton 06/06/2013 07:31I had booked a double confort room for single occupancy and got a little tiny room - wonder how two people would have managed to sleep in that room. I didn't even have the possibility to put my alarm clock on same drawer, table etc near my bed - had to put it on the floor. The tiny bathroom matched the tiny room. Breakfast they serve only from 8.30 in the morning till 9.30. I personally think that breakfast at 8.30 is rather late as I'm the sort of person who would like to do excursions etc during the day. In the evening after 20.00 you needed a code to enter the hotel because there was nobody in the reception anymore. A drink at 19.00 at the bar?? Impossible because there was no more staff at the bar at 19.00. It was clean, the breakfast buffet was good, the hotel is well located in relation to the beach and the train station. Conclusion: one can well spend a night there if one needs a room in Blankenberge but wouldn't spend my holidays there
