The hotel was constructed about 30 years ago. After that they never have done any maintenance of the hotel building and rooms. Half of the bulbs and switches in the room do not function. There is no proper electrical outlet to use laptops. No WiFi Internet in the room. They have WiFi Internet only in the lobby. There is no tea/coffee kettle in the room. Towels are very old and looks unclean. No proper wardrobe in the room. Electrical power supply goes on and off many times. Every time the AC has to be restarted which takes about 2 mins. The AC has no control -just on or off. Breakfast is below average. They have only idli and vada. It is ok with me. But if you want any other choice, then you don't have. Overall no value for money at all.

We were visiting Mangalore for a day to attend a wedding. The wedding was in the center of the city and we wanted to stay close to the wedding place and that’s why we booked our room for the night at Poonja.
The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the city and the airport is just 20 minutes away. Our check in and check out went smoothly. The hotel and the rooms are a bit dated, nevertheless our room was clean and tidy. It had all the basic facilities. We had a complimentary breakfast and the breakfast spread was great. Overall, we had a comfortable and a good stay at Hotel Poonja International.

I booked this hotel just a few days ago. It appears to be old fashioned hotel. The furniture and the bathroom fittings are also old. However they have maintained the cleanliness. The staffs were helpful. Costed me around RS1400 at MMT per night. If you are looking for a budget hotel with ok look and feel then this could be a place you are looking for. Breakfast was complementary. It was of decent quality and unlimited quantity. However, the lunch is costly and our experience was not that great.

It was a last minute booking yet we could get a neat and clean room. Buffet breakfast is not great but not bad either. Centrally located. Very friendly staff. Good front office staff.
Overall it is value for money. It also has many vegetarian restaurants nearby (as we were particular).

The hotel is located in close proximity to several important locations in the city. That's about the only reason to book this hotel. The day's rent is taken in advance. Considering that I travel extensively, this is not a common practice. The sanitary fittings in the bathroom are very old. The restaurant is just okay. This isn't a bad hotel, but I am sure there are better hotels in Mangalore.
