When you arrive at a Hotel where the staff is the less worst of the overall service, something is really wrong!
This Hotel is rated 4 Stars, when you are there you realize that 2 Stars would be very generous, not wasting my time on detailed feedback, because when a Hotel has bedbugs on the room is pointless to mention anything else.

Location is nice, only four squares from Merida Zocalo, the swimming pool and the service at bar is nice by the team, happy hour daily from 7:00 to 9:00 in national cocktails, the food in the restaurant is not good

Great value for this centrally located (4 blocks to main square) hotel. We appreciated the on site secured parking - most downtown small hotels have off site parking. When you get into the hotel and pool area you cannot hear the street/city noise. The hotel has a decent pool with a bar and nice hang out area. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. The rooms are decent - we upgraded to a jr. suite (#207) and enjoyed the extra room, walk in closet and large bathroom. The American breakfast was quite good.

Hotel Maria del Carmen is a good choice if you are on a limited budget and not looking for a five star experience. The swimming pool is very good for children. I had slight issues with AC but service took care of that. Room also had a slightly stale smell.

We spent three days at Maria del Carmen, using it as a base to visit Merida and the local area. This hotel is only a 10-12 minute walk from the ADO CAME (downtown) bus station and about a 12-15 minute walk from el Centro. The hotel is clean; the staff courteous; our room (jr. suite) was spacious. The pool has a bar with extremely reasonably priced drinks. The front desk staff arranged a day trip to Chichen Itza for us. The bus picked us up and dropped us off at the front of the hotel, and this was also quite reasonable (525 pesos). Internet was a bit spotty, but this has been a theme on our whole trip to Mexico this year. They have a large breakfast buffet out, but as a vegan there was little in it for me to eat except the fruit, oats a granola, but it is very reasonably priced. All in all, for what this hotel charges (around $50 per night Canadian with breakfast), you simply cannot complain.
