This was our third stay at this hotel. We had a lovely room overlooking the lake. The Hotel is well placed in the town, close to the lake and where the boats depart.
Breakfast is good and the waiting staff are very helpful and so attentive. The Reception staff were very helpful and spoke very good English. We would definitely return.

Its pretty hard to write this review as despite having a confirmed booking on booking.com when we arrived at the hotel they told us we were actually staying at a different hotel (Regina Palace Hotel) which is down the road. No discussion, apologies, no advanced notice so that we didn't find a park and pay for 24 hours parking outside the wrong hotel. I actually booked a room at Milan Speranza Au Lac because as a photographer I wanted a room facing Isola Bella so I could take photos and monitor light levels. I'm pretty disappointed and would not try booking here again.

I am really pleased we booked this hotel, although their air conditioning could be a little cooler, it's 31degrees outside, so a lot hotter than we thought it would be.
The location is perfect for catching the numerous boats to the islands in the middle of the lake, and the size of the room is fabulous and beautifully appointed, even has a Murano glass chandelier over he bed.

This hotel was overlooking Lake Maggiore and we paid a small amount extra in order to have a lake view. It was well worth it. This was my first visit to Italy and was a perfect choice. The hotel, the staff and the choice of excursions were superb.

If you're looking for a hotel in Stresa, look no further than the Hotel Milan Speranza Au Lac. Located in the heart of Stresa this old traditional style hotel has it all. Well appointed rooms, several facing Lake Maggiore with good balconies, close to the ferry docks and wonderful efficient staff.
Some rooms are quite small, try to avoid room 305 and 306, we had 305 but with little trouble we were relocated to 114 which overlooked the lake. I suspect any room with the numbers 10 to 14 on any floor would face the lake with an ample balcony to enjoy the view.
Although all the restaurant staff were fantastic, I need to give a special shout out to Barbara who despite long hours (she would be there for breakfast at 7 a.m. and again for dinner at 7 p.m.) she never failed to be pleasant and very efficient. Thanks Barbara.
Just to add to their excellent efficiency our group had to leave the hotel at 5:45 a.m. long before the staff started for the day. However, two of the staff came in at 5:00 a.m. to remove the checked bags and load them on to the coach. One was supposed to have the day off and the second one should have started at 8:00 a.m. The maître de also came in at 5:00 to ensure we all had fresh coffee and hot tea before leaving for our journey home.
