We stayed here with a tour group and were delighted by how beautiful our room was. Particularly, the bathroom tub was beyond perfect after a long day of sightseeing. The only issue we ran into was that the air conditioning did not work in the room (or may not have been turned on - the staff was a bit unclear). Normally, we'd suck it up, but it was close to 80 degrees in our room for our entire stay and nothing the staff did would fix it. They ended up just telling us to leave the door to our room open since the hallways were much colder. Easier said than done...especially at night. If it had been even 5 degrees cooler, the stay would have been perfect.
We did attempt to eat at the Japanese restaurant at the hotel one night - which was a really odd experience as we were the only people dining and the staff seemed surprised we were even there (yet they confirmed they were open). So we basically ate an appetizer, had a drink, and got out of there.

very comfortable room, full amenities. Hotel has good location, close to city center where you can find interesting places like forbidden city, Tiananmen square, silk market, wangfujing pedestrian street, etc.
All Hotel areas are very clean and hotel staff is very kind, despite language could be a limitation. They also have a fine Japanese restaurant

This hotel was very nice. This Room overlook the Japanese garden they had in the back which was beautiful. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom we loved. The bathroom had a very fancy toilet which had a few gadgets which we liked. The shower had a rainfall shower overhead pluss a handheld showerhead as well in a good size shower. If you wanted to go anywhere you would need to use public transportation or walk and it was a little distance to anything. The hotel offered breakfast which was huge and you could choose from a Western breakfast or Chinese breakfast which was a lot of food.

What a luxurious experience! It wasn't the St Regis of course but pretty darn close to it.
I enjoyed everything from this hotel starting with the great service, the clean rooms and bathrooms (spotless bathrooms are a BIG deal for me), the convenient location, and even the entertainment!
Breakfast was a peasant experience. Great delicious food, chinese or american.
This was my first stop of a 2 weeks adventure in Southeast Asia and the New Otani was one of my favorite hotel of the 5 hotels in stayed at.
Don't even hesitate or think about it... just book it. You will have a pleasant stay!

beutiful room.....with great view :) the food was sooo tastyyyyy.....if you go to china this is the best hotel for travelers...also is very near the mall if you want to go for shoping....and very close small super market ...to buy some water..or nice chips.. :)
